Re: Subaru idle problem (EJ20 in a T25)

I had something similar in the beetle with an ej20. Can't be sure what fixed it because I did 3 things at once.

1. Iacv (idle air control valve) swapped out for a known good replacement.
2. Speed sensor installed.
3. Put the lambda sensor in.

Settled down after that.

Re: Decent Socket Set??

Halfords for me too. I got the non professional set so no lifetime guarantee but it has taken such a beating and even the ratchet mechanism still works. Not had any reason to upgrade other than losing some bits of it.

Bigger tyres at the back will make it easier on the engine though!

Re: Early gearbox late van

Oh Its important to state what engine you have and what you are doing, it sounded like you are trying to fit an Aircooled gearbox to a vw engine. As for fitting, RJES have a mount and gear rod extension kit to fit the early box. You will need the early rear linkage rod aswell. Awesome cheers dude!!!

Re: Early gearbox late van

Sorry, didn't think it would matter. I have a subaru 2.5 and using the rjes engine mount and dk box with rjes gearbox bell housing.

Early gearbox late van

Hi,

Im about to install my early dk gearbox in my late panel van. They obviously don't normally fit right. Has anyone modified their gearbox mount to accommodate what I'm doing? Any pics/plans etc?

Cheers

Re: Sound deadening!

As long as the panel is dry when you stick it on I don't see why it would encourage rust. It shouldn't trap / hold water as far as I can tell. I'll be doing sound deadening soon so would like to know if I'm wrong!

Re: To Subaru or not to Subaru ? ?

Am I right in thinking the Subaru ej range are not mechanical distributed ? and therefore will require the Subaru computer and wiring loom?. I'm an old dog but this seems mega work to me. Rebuild your dg buddy. Sent from my SM-J500FN using Tapatalk Correct. Ecu, immobiliser, antenna, key and a load...

Re: To Subaru or not to Subaru ? ?

I think the cosworth would have a bigger impact than a subaru. The subaru is really common so parts are cheap, more info kicking about, less thirsty (correct me if I'm wrong with this or any of it really) and still a flat 4 that sits in the engine bay with pretty much no modifications to the metalwo...

Re: To Subaru or not to Subaru ? ?

There are always different opinions on these things. For me.... Depends really. If you like using it and don't intend on doing things purely in the hope that one day an original van will be worth more (there's no guarantee that will be the case anyway), do it. You don't change anything major to inst...

Get your old one refurbed? Or sell your old stuff to help fund new? I'm after an interior too. What is your old one like? Where are you?

Re: Help with stalling issue on Subaru conversion!

My beetle had that issue and it was solved with the rjes speed sensor. Simple fix and not that expensive assuming your problem is also the speed sensor!

Re: Lower Tailgate Edge

Definitely just make something. Should be simple and won't cost a fortune like replacing it will. Repair/ reuse/recycle should always be the first choice in classic car ownership! E D I T: repairing won't necessarily be cheaper if you can find a colour match and just bolt off/bolt on. Never easier e...
