Re: Speedo repair/replacement
Jack up drivers wheel (or whichever one has the speedo cable showing through wheel cap), remove dash shroud, disconnect speedo cable from back (usually need to squeeze it to unclip) then spin wheel and see if speedo inner cable is actually moving at dash. If wheel cap is rounded (common) causing cab...

No, they'll work in parallel rather than series otherwise each bulb would need to be 4v if shared

In the end I ordered x10 of these (£3.39): https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-Way-Pin-Car-Electrical-Wiring-Multi-Connector-6-3mm-Terminal-Kit-Motorcycle/282358057007?var=581477857988&hash=item41bdda082f%3Am%3Am6YJzzvdcGWI2MAWJ4KAQag&_sacat=0&_nkw=1+Way+Pin+Car+Electrical+Wiring+Multi+Connecto...

Re: Bluetooth stereo...
Grab the ALDI stereo when it comes in. I buy one every year as sure as eggs are eggs, someone will want one after they're sold out. Bluetooth, hands free, very good sound and only about 2" deep ;) In fact last year I chanced my luck, waited until ALDI discounted them and gor two for £19 each :D...

Re: Replacing the dashboard plastic PCB
One thing you might like to add to PDF (unless I missed it) was connection for oil light. Mines an early DG so only has the one wire.

The only thing against me is this damned heat, but I'll give it a go
Had to abandon brakes/clutch for same reason.

Re: Replacing the dashboard plastic PCB
Update Chris. Molex connector arrived from Hong Kong (£1.85). Much prefer this method of connection so hopefully at the weekend I can fit this and fully test :D Will make it much easier for me to unplug dash. Would be handy to have an additional heavy duty plug/socket for all the switches but thankf...

Re: Starter battery drained - Split Charge?
VW's motto of "Nothing is reliable as a volkswagen" (annoyingly and inappropriately used post-vdub) came out of its original approach to keeping everything simple on the classic beetle. Less to go wrong. I too favour a simple relay for split charging. Cheap to replace if they do ever go wr...

Re: Dash Light Repair
Its probably just as easy to fit 12v LEDs for a fast solution - connected into lighting circuit or as I did, permanently on with ignition on. I've since upgraded to CJH's dash solution which takes the dash lighting into account.

Re: Fuel Gauge/Sender Variants
No only is it not linear, its useless when parked and wildly inaccurate as you drive around bends. The only two reference points I've ever found to be near correct are full or empty, :) I looked at this a while back and concluded I'd need to at least figure out at what point it conks out and fit an ...

Re: Row of blanks.
Useful one if you do the PWM blower upgrade would be a "left on" indicator. Can't think of anything else on a stock engine but might apply with an engine conversion. Still working on my "quick the engine bay is in flames" alarm. Works ok, just need it to alert the driver now.

Re: No clutch suddenly
Cracked axle nut off. For some reason my scaffold pole has gone walkies so bought a 5' one from local recycling centre for £4 this morning. Also (and pure fluke) I had a pair of old stock (new) brake shoes for that wheel only. Just need to clean up any grease and bleed cylinder. Then I can start loo...
