Re: Calling all syncro heads! Can view vw?
I'm sorry I'm not in a position to check this one out for you but please, do not give any deposit before you're even seen it. This seller has only 4 posts and is unknown to the people of this forum. This does not mean he is not trustworthy but who can tell. It may go before you get to see it, which ...

Re: Syncro Stuck!
Like to know what camera & mounting you've got there S'Swede. Spend £300 on a HD Hero? Not me! It was a 3.2MP Nikon that came free with my PC years ago attached to the mirror arm with an Ultrapod mini tripod (smaller of the two sizes they do) with the velcro strap that comes attached to it. Tha...

Re: Hub nut
Dunno but you need a piece of 2" pipe, 8 feet long with a 15 stone person swinging out of it ...... Its actually 500 Nm !! and a second 15 stone bloke with big boots holding the socket on the ridiculously shallow nut itself with his foot! My local garage are nice chaps and lent me their monste...

Re: PLEASE HELP! Towing advice?
UK law states you can only use an A frame to tow a broken-down vehicle to a place of safety/repair and not for transport. I expect, as others have said, that the Germans at least will be more strict and many more UK Police forces are picking up on this. In the UK the vehicle towed must be road legal...

Re: PetenAli's List of jobs to be done on our Syncro
On my old Syncro I put a twin 55w work lamp from an agricultural supplier on the bumper top so I didn't have to drill the body itself. It was wired to a relay in the engine space with a three position switch on the dash. On, off and the third was spliced into the reverse light switch so it came on a...

I can't imagine Simon will remain Syncroless for long… well not if I bully him some!
I'd love a project Syncro too but lack of space precludes this. With Simon's roomy yard however, who knows...

Re: VR5 engines
A friend was looking to replace his 1.8T Passat recently and wondered why the newer V5 Passats were so cheap. Their road tax band is crippling because of emissions, (obviously on 2001 or newer).

Re: Syncro-less but not idle!
I still think a single cab syncro would be fun, you could learn to weld on it. Hours of fun. That haflinger might have been tax exempt though. Yip, it was exempt and small enough to fit in the garage to store and work on. Simple little motor too. There'll be others… or it may be a Syncro single cab...
