Re: Securing Westfalia Roof Down?
Yes, probably those holes are for the latch. Could be enough as the original westfalia roofs had only that center latch but having two on each side is a more secure way IMO Agreed, I think I will secure them into each side, check how secure then opt to use the middle already pre drilled holes or fi...

Re: Securing Westfalia Roof Down?
I think this is my solution, thanks a lot. The roof has 4 holes which have been carpeted over (see first post photos) could I just use these holes? These current holes are bang in the middle of the roof though.. might not pull down the roof enough and then become a hazard.. If there is no strenghten...

Re: Securing Westfalia Roof Down?
Thank you will do, I have identified suitable areas to drill a cleat into the van, bit of an odd one because the original roof was a boat like hightop looked almost home made which has been taken off and the hole cut out of the roof has been cut slightly too wide! Am I correct in saying I should not...

Re: Securing Westfalia Roof Down?
do you have the H bar setup and reinforcing plates?? The roof is slightly different, the mechanism does not include the H plates seen on the original pop roofs... Unless the H plates were an accessory/after market option to support the roof? Pop roof strap.jpg This way of doing it is not an option ...

you should make something like this on the two corners: https://www.vwt4forum.co.uk/threads/side-elevating-roof-tie-down.259015/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; https://brazilianvwbay.forumotion.com/t2359-poptop" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; This ...

Securing Westfalia Roof Down?
How are people securing pop top roofs down? This is a Westfalia reproduction roof which came with no cleats where a strap could pass through and then be secured to another point on the van to ensure wont pop up when driving. There are 4 holes in the roof which have been carpeted over could be used t...

Re: Engine bay raised platforms/storage - show and tell
Noticed this one on Just Campers, Your Rides has a small step down when the rock roll is in its bed position.
Is this widely accepted as a work around?
Potentially just had a thinner foam bit at the back to cater for the step.

Re: Engine bay raised platforms/storage - show and tell
I see Campervan Culture produce a hinge designed for this but cant imagine everyone out there is buying this hinge to allow for the rear raised bed? raised bed hinge cc .jpeg One option is have a much fatter cushion on the seat/actual rock roll which meets a thinner mattress topper style one that si...

Re: Engine bay raised platforms/storage - show and tell
Anyone got any experience or advice in allowing for this raised area to function with a rock roll bed made from hinges? I have a pair of the repro westfalia hinges same ones in this photo.. Westi hinge.jpg From what I see the arm that comes off the hinge and fixes to the floor of the van depicts wha...

Re: How does this Rock+Roll bed fit?
You only need to make 2 rectangular board, the width is simply the width between the hinges, the length of each board can be calculated by what length of bed you require minus the length of the space over the engine bay, the above dimensions are unlikely to be correct for your bed Nice one, thanks ...

Re: How does this Rock+Roll bed fit?
yes, but you have to figure out the position and sizes o the boards. this is the Reimo pdf with full width sizes: https://t3-infos.de/images/Reimo_Klappsitzbank.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and this is for a narrow one: https://t3-infos.de/images/Reimo-Klappsitzbank....

You miss the two plywood boards of the base and the backrest
Should work with making up my own seat/back boards and fix to van though!
