Re: Another 2.1 running/idle problem - 1992 SS
Thanks for the recommendation. They may be a little too far away to be practical, but I'll certainly bear them in mind. I'm going to try Les Rampton at Bullibarn in Essex, who did the bodywork for me 10 years ago when I lived down that way. At least he's likely to know who to ask locally!

Re: Another 2.1 running/idle problem - 1992 SS
Further down the road. The van had to go to the local garage (a Porsche specialist) for its MoT, so I had them look the whole thing over. It failed the MoT on a couple of things (a couple of minor chassis welds, front brakes, exhaust knackered), so I said fix it and give it me back when you're done....

Re: Another 2.1 running/idle problem - 1992 SS
The Idle Control Unit? Yes, that was replaced by a GoWesty remanufactured unit. Unlike in the DJ, it can't be bypassed. I have replaced all the small-bore vacuum pipes, but I will start looking through the larger bore items. I have three Idle control valves (including the original) and they all beha...

Re: Another 2.1 running/idle problem - 1992 SS
Still playing with it. Latest change is GoWesty-refurbished ECU and new injectors and plenums. No significant difference. I'm now down to the wiring, everything else has been changed!

Re: Digijet Idle speed too high when warm
Matt, the LLE 2.1 is an SS-type engine with the full-blown Digifant EFI system. The ISCU can't be disconnected and bypassed in the way a Digijet (DG engine) can. Replacement ISCUs are available from GoWesty, but they're not cheap. Check the T2 sensor (£5 to replace) and the auxiliary air valve (idle...

Re: Another 2.1 running/idle problem - 1992 SS
I might be stating the obvious but have you looked at your starter/solenoid? Could be jamming things up as it heats up. And all your grounds obviously. I have the opposite problem at the moment...unable to hold idle when cold, but fine once warmed up. I have checked and remade/replaced all the eart...

Re: Another 2.1 running/idle problem - 1992 SS
Sorry, guys, been busy with other things in life and the van has had little or no attention in the last few months. However, I'm moving so I need to get it going! I've bought a new (refurbished) throttle body from GoWesty, which has their more sturdy hi/lo microswitch system, and roller butterfly be...

Re: Another 2.1 running/idle problem - 1992 SS
Hi Aidan. Ok, hit me with it - how much?! And yes, the MV should be the same as SS. Even if the ECU isn't the problem, it would be good to have a spare - I used to have one years ago but sold it on this very website, I think, for about £30!

Re: Another 2.1 running/idle problem - 1992 SS
Ok, Vanagon-syndrome harness fitted. No difference. I think it's got to be either the ECU or somewhere in the loom. Anyone fancy making me a new engine bay wiring loom?!

Re: Another 2.1 running/idle problem - 1992 SS
Hi Aidan. Funnily enough, I remembered that I'd got a GoWesty capacitor harness tucked away somewhere and I'm in the process of fitting it now. Bloody soldering iron's broken, so standby for news later...

Another 2.1 running/idle problem - 1992 SS
This has been going on a long while now, but I've recently come back to it as I'd like to use the van for a few moving jobs and maybe a bit of a tour next summer - and it has to get to the new place under its own power! I've read pretty much everything in the Wiki and on GoWesty, but I don't seem to...

Re: Knocking From Front Left Wheel Area On Left lock
Does the knock only occur on full lock? only uphill? Sure its the front? does sound more like a rear cv joint thats worn.. Yeah, you're right. I've eliminated everything else, and the symptoms are exactly right for a CV joint. It just sounded as though it was from the front! Now, the question is wh...

Re: Injection Engine starting Problem
Got it, fitted it, no change. Wiring checked - all good. I've disconnected the O2 (Lambda) sensor, and that seems to have cured it, so either the sensior itself or the co-axial cable has failed - probably! Standby for further investigation... E D I T: Referring to the T2 sensor here. Forgot I'd alre...

Re: Injection Engine starting Problem
Blue sensor arrived and fitted. No change. So what next? ECU? I thought I'd pop in a new Hall sender at the same time (the only ignition part not yet changed), but I can't get the vane rotor off - it's not as shown in the Haynes manual with a circlip retaining it. It seems to be permanently attached...

Re: Injection Engine starting Problem
I'll ask Brickwerks and see what they say. GoWesty might have some info too. Bullibarn isn't too far away from me - I'll ask them too.
