Re: Dehler Profi

Nice one guys super helpful all round... thinking we are ducking this one. Still on the hunt for a Westie or equal pop top! There’s not a lot we don’t like, really want one now seems like it’s been ages looking but it’ll be worth it when we have our van!

Re: Dehler Profi

Thanks guys! Any thoughts on a price? It’s recently been resprayed, no mention of how well or if it was bare metal.apllicances need servicing before use and the inside just needs a bit of a clean he said. Seems genuine, wasn’t what we had in mind but it’s quite an interesting thing!

Dehler Profi

Not seen one for sale in the year we’ve been looking but been offered one today. Looks pretty smart, researched and fell in love with the interior and styling and it’s a 2.1. Looks like it could be worth chasing. Should the slight rarity add much value? Any recommendations on buying one or things to...

Seam Rash - What can we do

Hey guys, I have been looking since June now for a van for me and the GF. We aren't in any rush and have had the pleasure of looking everyday and getting a real feel for the market and what we can afford and more than anything the many shapes and sizes that these beauties come in. I have learnt tons...

Re: Which Engine code should we be chasing?

Just seen you are sunny South Wales as well. I've had a 1.9 & 2.1 in my van (both running carb - the same one in fact !) Didn't notice much extra power from the 2.1 (over the 1.9), but the 2.1 is mean't to be the better one as more torque (i'l be retarding the timing for unleaded this time to h...

Re: 4 Speed, 5 Speed or Auto?

Thanks for the input so far guys, Super helpful, nice to hear from users with hand on experience, a lot of what I'm hearing tends to be not a lot in terms of performance difference between the 4/5 but parts might be easier on the 4 speed. I reckon we will sack off the Auto, aim for a 4 speed but not...

Re: 4 Speed, 5 Speed or Auto?

Petrol engine on a 4 speed is fine, the turdo diesels prefer a 5 speed to keep the turbo spooled up, the n/a diesels are just slow regardless of transmission, the early ones have the aircoooled 091 gearbox, only 1983 my on do they have the 094 gearbox 4 speed boxes wear just like the 5 speeds do an...

4 Speed, 5 Speed or Auto?

Hey Guys, through research it suggests that the 4 speed boxes are not bad at all, with oil changes and care they can last. I have seen a couple of 5 speed boxes and a handful of auto's. I assume that parts for the 4 Speed are more readily available as they seem more common, is there any need to avoi...

Re: Which Engine code should we be chasing?

I Reckon we are hunting a 2.1, we won't say no to a 1.9 but through much more reading, feedback and comments I think that is our best bet. Now to find a smart one!

Re: Which Engine code should we be chasing?

Thanks for your help everyone, some insight there that's helped! I think we will aim for a 2.1 if we can find a tidy one. We probably won't turn our nose up at a smart 1.9 DG or similar if one pops up or at a push we might go for the 1.6TD. It's not what we want really I'd rather something a little ...

Re: Which Engine code should we be chasing?

1600cc air-cooled CT 1600cc 50 bhp Flat 4 Good for urban delivery vans, not the best for long distance work. 2000cc air-cooled CU 2000cc 70 bhp Flat 4 Good tough engine but getting old and only fitted to the older vans, but if a van came up with very good bodywork don't dismiss it. CV 2000cc 70 bhp...

Re: Which Engine code should we be chasing?

On the other hand, diesels are more forgiving of poor maintenance and are generally pretty bombproof. Noisy though. Petrol water cooled , you need to be sure they have had their coolant changed regularly, or there's trouble down t'road. And they are all pretty old now... I noticed this, head bolt d...
