Re: GRP interior panels, possible camper origin.
Turns out it's from a Devon Microbus.
Pretty cool set of parts when I put it all in its correct layout. I'll get more pics as I trial fit it in the Syncro.

GRP interior panels, possible camper origin.
A set of fibreglass trim panels for a RHD van have come into my possession. https://goo.gl/photos/3NNkpF1dovS21CmC6 https://goo.gl/photos/72HEwNJpWGV6DHg39 https://goo.gl/photos/1SGYPwb8ksGRPYU5A https://goo.gl/photos/AY7vdtu3rEaLer6FA They go all around the roof frame (the structural bits with the ...

Re: Only Mercedes rims in here!
These are Kromag 5x112 steels made for Mercedes (supposedly for early Sprinters).
They are 16"x7.5J and et45. They are a heavy duty TUV approved rim available new at 82 Euros.

Re: New wheels
Mk4 R32 wheels are 5x100 and not suitable, the Mk5 R32 was 5x112 which should be - but I would check load rating and whether they are genuine VW wheels as there are lots of R32 'alike' copies out there which won't be as strong.

Re: The aftermarket steering wheel dilemma
I've happened across a different boss, listed specifically for the Transporter and LT >92, rather than for the Golf/Scirocco/Beetle like Momo.
It's a well known german manufacturer and as it's on the books of one of our suppliers anyway I have ordered one.
Let's hope it addresses the issue.

Ugly is probably a bit harsh. But they are functional and characterless like most VW steering wheels of the time.

Re: The aftermarket steering wheel dilemma
Paul.Have you considered using a wheel off a power steering model. They are fatter and smaller than the original and the caravelle wheel. I know that, but they are overpriced, ugly and invariably the rim twists on them. I had one on my last Syncro. It was nice to have the right sized wheel (mine ha...

Re: The aftermarket steering wheel dilemma
Sounds like the boss needs machining Paul. Let's see the puppy. I'll remove it and get some pics. This has to be a common problem as it's the only boss that fits our vans, most of the cheaper ones aren't of merchantable quality. I can't believe nobody has come up with a solution after all these yea...

Re: Sliding door will hit new wheels. Help needed.
This size will run fine on our vans. having run numerous sets of Pentas exactly the same with no issues or wheel bearings failing like the doom clan so often prescribe. As a precaution I always fitted new bearings just in case but the claim they would fail was never founded after running them on Syn...

The aftermarket steering wheel dilemma
I'm running with a non standard steering wheel on the Syncro - currently a lovely thick rimmed leather Delta 4x4 one from the late 80's on a Momo Golf Mk1/2/Beetle small splined boss. It's not ideal as it's too small (seller promised it was a 38cm , it's actually a 36cm!) and the boss doesn't tighte...
