Yepp, I imported from Germany myself (I'm originally from there myself, so that wasn't a very big hurdle).
There are a good few Irish Syncros about (also on here) but to my shame I have to confess I never met them

Class job there, looks fantastic ! I don't know if you're planning on fitting a pop-top or high roof at some stage ...if not, you might want to consider fitting at least a skylight/roof-hatch kind of thing. With no tinted glass and a large, dark roof area these ex-army yokes heat up like a glasshous...

Push it in on rims alone?

Depends really on what you want to carry.
Anything precious (either of sentimental or monetary value) is better off encased, IMO

(kids, dogs or big eff-off flatscreen TV's don't last too long on the back of a DoKa )

Genuine westy or not ...the interior looks very usable to me.

I'd be a lot more worried about the B-pillar and the other seams, especially the ones behind the kitchen ...they do look decidedly crispy in the pics

I've been driving Vredestein Comtrac Winters for a year now. While I'm sure that they'd probably fail miserably in axle deep mud, they are brilliant in all other conditions ...ice, snow, rain, floods, dry roads, wet grass, gravel ...they perform really well. The only conditions I haven't tested them...

I drive the same tyre size on my Syncro with 3.5 bar front / 3.8 bar rear (the sticker says 3.0 / 3.3 for 185/14)


Ever since I've had a van I've always inflated tyres 0.5 bar over the recommendation. Gives marked better tyre life, better fuel consumption, identical handling and minimally harder ride

well the syncro is 2wd short term. diff and other 4wd malarky is out ready for rebuild. just took it to swansea and it just not the same. the fear of getting stuck on dry tarmac is not rational but its there, even if only in the mind of the effected. :? I'm 6'2", have standard Saab 9000 leathers (no suede, no aeroplane ) and a 42 cm dia wheel (for vans with PAS even though I don't have that either) and no issues either. You do sit a good bit higher though ...don't hardly ever need the sun visor anymore because I'm pretty close to the roofline ...
