Re: Ex German Army T3 Conversion To Camper.

You'd have to keep your eyes very peeled, I stopped driving the yoke last week ...it's up for sale

Re: Ex German Army T3 Conversion To Camper.

Yepp, I imported from Germany myself (I'm originally from there myself, so that wasn't a very big hurdle).
There are a good few Irish Syncros about (also on here) but to my shame I have to confess I never met them

Re: Ex German Army T3 Conversion To Camper.

Class job there, looks fantastic ! I don't know if you're planning on fitting a pop-top or high roof at some stage ...if not, you might want to consider fitting at least a skylight/roof-hatch kind of thing. With no tinted glass and a large, dark roof area these ex-army yokes heat up like a glasshous...

Push it in on rims alone?

some old steelies and a bit of old carpet in order not to scratch the concrete floor ...that's what I'd do

Re: doka vs panel van

Depends really on what you want to carry.
Anything precious (either of sentimental or monetary value) is better off encased, IMO

(kids, dogs or big eff-off flatscreen TV's don't last too long on the back of a DoKa  )

Re: 1985 Westy Syncro......would you or wouldn't you?

Genuine westy or not ...the interior looks very usable to me.

I'd be a lot more worried about the B-pillar and the other seams, especially the ones behind the kitchen ...they do look decidedly crispy in the pics

Re: Wheel question (I'm sorry)

I've been driving Vredestein Comtrac Winters for a year now. While I'm sure that they'd probably fail miserably in axle deep mud, they are brilliant in all other conditions ...ice, snow, rain, floods, dry roads, wet grass, gravel ...they perform really well. The only conditions I haven't tested them...

Re: What are the best replacement front seats?

Saab are too high Ah = interesting to know. I was thinking about Saab seats as they are often quoted as a good replacement, (our camper will be coming back soon after a major body resto and the seats are a little shabby). As I am a tad over 6 foot tall, perhaps this was not such a good idea then an...

Re: A stupid but essential question.

I drive the same tyre size on my Syncro with 3.5 bar front / 3.8 bar rear (the sticker says 3.0 / 3.3 for 185/14)

Ever since I've had a van I've always inflated tyres 0.5 bar over the recommendation. Gives marked better tyre life, better fuel consumption, identical handling and minimally harder ride

Re: 2wd syncro

well the syncro is 2wd short term. diff and other 4wd malarky is out ready for rebuild. just took it to swansea and it just not the same. the fear of getting stuck on dry tarmac is not rational but its there, even if only in the mind of the effected. :? Does a 2WD Syncro drive better or worse than ...

Re: Saab Seats for taller/bigger people

I'm 6'2", have standard Saab 9000 leathers (no suede, no aeroplane ) and a 42 cm dia wheel (for vans with PAS even though I don't have that either) and no issues either. You do sit a good bit higher though ...don't hardly ever need the sun visor anymore because I'm pretty close to the roofline ...

Re: finding the centre of a circle

For larger circles use a compass or a piece of string and a pencil/chalk Stick one point of the compass into one point on the edge of the circle and then set its width so that the other end of the compass just touches the furthest side of the circle. Now draw a half circle (or sligthly bigger) with ...

Re: To Tur..Bo or not to Tur...bo

No idea what a 1Y engine does for your driving characteristics, but the difference between the 1.6 non turbo cs and 1.6 turbo jx is very noticeable. First off, you get 40% more power (50 vs 70 hp)...40% !! Secondly, you can keep on going on inclines without having to shift down And thirdly, you can ...
