Re: diesel starter removal
Thanks for the various tips. My engine is a 1.9TD. I've tried rotating the motor, but, because of the pinion shroud on the motor fouling the ring gear it won't turn enough. As far as "persuading the bracket away sufficiently, it seems to need a gurt big effort, more than enough to bend/break som...

diesel starter removal
Any tips for this? I've removed the two s/motor bolts, and the forward stay for the clutch slave cylinder bracket hopeing to rotate the cylinder/bracket to clear the s/motor flange; doesn't want to move! How is it fixed to the spigot where the clutch release pivot rod comes out of the gbox. Should I...

Re: Alternator issues
Had a similar problem with a Riley 1.5 which was parked up for long spells. I put an electric pump in parallel with the manual pump between the manual pump and the carb. Switch on, the electric pump primes, but once started the manual pump takes over the supply, pressurises the electric pump which t...

Re: how the window works
Hi Dave, don't know the VW specifically but on most vehicles the channel part of the winder mechanism is a tight push fit on the glass bottom with a flat rubber strip sandwiched between the two. I seem to remember using petrol on the rubber to make it slippery so it could be "persuaded" on...

Re: Dash wiring. again!!
Morning! Thanks AngeloEvs, I have managed to download a copy from photobucket. excellent. Am I correct in assuming I can bypass the oil module and connect the 0.3 bar conn direct to the oil light? Thanks again, Ianh

Dash wiring. again!!
Where can I find a circuit diagram for the dash wiring for a DIESEL t25. All of the diagrams that I've found don't show the diesel version clearly. I have got what I think is the official VW diagram but it's not very helpful. Wires lead off to small numbered squares but I can't seem to find where th...

What is the general opinion of auto boxes in a T25? bad, good. What sort of mpg etc etc? Has anyone fitted one to a 1.9TD engine. Any info would be good. Ianh

Re: B pillar grab handle.
Hi bbb76, I would think it is relatively easy to fit a front door or A pillar handle there. These handles have a flat base and use a lump of plastic to adapt them to the A pillar curvature. You can get access inside the B pillar thro the vent hole at the bottom to "slip in" a reinforcement...

Re: 1.6 Diesel Water Pump Belt Change.
Confused! on the air cooled petrol engine this is the case, but on a diesel, loosen the alternator fixings, swing it in and the remove/replace the belt. Tension then tighten the alt bolts.

Oil pressure switches
I gather there are are two oil pressure switches on a VW diesel engine. (mine's a 1.9 TD.) switching at different pressures. Would someone tell me where both of these switches are located and which is which? Thanks Ianh
