Re: Westfalia hightop paint code
Hi, the roof is fibreglass so is not painted. The colour is a white pigment in the outer resin layer. A good abrasive polish should bring the colour back.

Re: Fridge flue needed if never going to use gas ?
The RM123 has a thermostat for 240v operation, it is only the 12v which is unregulated.
Hope this helps.

Re: Fiamma bike racks
The Fiamma bike rack fits to the top and bottom of the tailgate so no issues with the exhaust and no electrics involved. The rack basically clamps on so no drilling required either and can easily be removed when not needed. The gas struts on the tailgate should be strong enough to hold the 'gate ope...

Re: Adjusting the sliding door
Hi,not sure if you have sorted this but there is a third bolt behind the sliding door trim panel. However it is probably best to check the rear hinge/roller assembly first as the roller may be worn and this will cause the door to 'drop'. The rollers are available from the usual suppliers. Hope this ...

Re: Side window installation
Hi, usual method is to put the seal around the hole, then work the glass into the seal from the outside and then fit the insert into the seal. This is definitely a two man job and i would recommend plenty of masking tape or cloth tape to protect your new paintwork. You may want to use a non-setting ...

Re: Charging leisure battery also charges main van battery?
Hi, why not leave it as is ? Can't see why you wouldn't want the engine battery topped up as well? After all things like the cab interior lights and the radio are probably running off the engine battery. I have deliberately fitted a system to my van to charge both batteries when on hook up. Just a t...

Re: Steering rack bellows.
Hi, seems odd that the rack 'bellows' have come adrift, are they split or torn? They may have been replaced in the past and not secured properly. Have a good look at them before you decide to replace them as you may only need to re-secure them. A couple of metal clips may be all you need (I have see...

Re: Spoiler Referb
Hi, plastic can be difficult to paint due to adhesion problems so make sure the spoiler is perfectly clean and de-greased, and key the surface with a fine abrasive pad. If possible, use an etch primer specifically for plastics.
Hope this helps

Re: Multiple Keys
Hi, as long as all your locks are the same pattern then you should be able to strip and re-tumble them all to suit one key. Best to make all the doors match the existing ignition key as this is the most awkward 'lock' to strip. There are a few excellent posts on here about stripping and repairing th...

Re: LED Headlights
Hi, I have a very similar light fitted to my motorbike and they do look a little strange but give good light output, however these lights are made for the U.S.A so do not have the 'kick-up' to the left when on dipped beam. The dip cut off is flat. Also the ones you have linked to are a tad expensive...

Re: Converted Panel Van Sliding Window
Assuming that you want to change to a fixed window then any decent glazing specialist should be able to cut a piece of toughened or laminated glass to suit.

Hi, I get the feeling you really want to try and sort this yourself rather than paying out for what could be very expensive professional help so a couple of questions. Your first post mentioned a leak- where is it leaking from? secondly and no offence intended but are you checking the level correctl...

Re: Auto Gearbox - likely suspects?
Hi, just a random thought but do you have an independent Mercedes specialist near you? Most older mercs are auto and most 'classic' owners would not pay main dealer prices, hence a local merc specialist should know a decent autobox specialist. Does that make sense?

Re: Auto Gearbox - likely suspects?
Hi, auto boxes have always been one of the 'Dark Arts' which us mere mortals are not privy to! Best to take the whole van to a decent autobox specialist and let them work there spells and magic. These things generally need very specialist knowledge and tools to re-build properly and if you have a le...
