Re: Does anyone know about t4's ?
We had 2.5tdi and it was a good van. Don't know about above post and limp mode! I've never heard of aT4 having this. Can belt was the weak point but if kept on top of with quality parts it should be ok. Not as roomy as the T3 and a lot of dogs out there due to cheap short cut maintenance. Ours had ...

Re: Does anyone know about t4's ?
Thanks for the replies everyone, he's just after something a bit more 'modern feeling' than the t25 and hopefully more reliable in the long run!

Does anyone know about t4's ?
A mate of mine is looking at vw t4's at the moment, anyone have any experience of them, what to look for, driving compared to our vans etc ? He's seen a 2.4d westy poptop but after looking online it seems to be pretty slow, anyone know how it compares to a 1.6td (he's been in mine as comparison) or ...

Re: Fuel pump injection timing. Bosch ve 170 BT 4000
My timing is set at 1.05 ( didn't realise when doing it, must have slipped!) But it runs better than 1.0, engine pulls well and starts from cold without advance lever. Sometimes difficult to start when hot but I'm sure that's battery and glow plug related.

Re: Drive away awning technique
Having a high top I am not sure about fitting it to the gutter, as I have a channel screwed to the high top which I slide a Kador strip into & then fix the fig. of 8 strips (mine is in 3 pieces ) between the strip & the awning. There are different size Kador strips & figs. of 8 availabl...

Re: Drive away awning technique
Without the plastic trim the fig 8 is too lose on the gutter, with it it is a bit snug and as you have found you can easily pop it off. You might wish to explore the different diameters of the fig 8 strip, can't recall them from memory but it may help. The idea with the fig 8 is that it clips on/of...

Re: Drive away awning technique
Cheers for the replies, is anyone actually using the figure of 8 strip on the van ?
Mine is really secure as it's got the plastic trim on the gutter edge, I'm more concerned about driving away/coming back !

Drive away awning technique
Going to be using the awning we got with the van for the first time next week. How do you go about removing the awning from the van when driving away ? It's threaded on a figure of 8 strip which slides over the gutter plastic trim, I've read you simply pull the strip off the gutter trim but it's so ...

Re: Diesel fuel tank issues - update!
I finally got the van jacked up and checked the tank. The offside expansion tank pipe had come off the short length of flexi pipe that runs to the rear of the tank. The nearside was the same except the short flexi pipe was nowhere to be seen. The tank had been replaced in Germany previously and the ...

Re: Sad Engine Sounds
That sounds more like exhaust or manifold gasket leaking, seems too fast for tappet noise

Re: Diesel fuel tank issues
Had a closer look tonight and noticed the following - Left to right balance pipe is fine as are the hoses that join everything together Tank grommets are intact and appear sound The other pipe from the expansion tank to the top of the fuel tank is hanging loose above the main tank on both sides, I g...

Diesel fuel tank issues- update
Going to head up to Scotland in a week so decided to brim the tank in preparation, walking back to the van after paying and noticed fuel running out from underneath  When for a (long !) drive to use some fuel and had a look underneath when I got home. The tank seems ok and the leaks were from t...
