Sliding door seal area - pictures, anyone?
I'm currently fixing the LH outer sill area on my '82 RHD Devon, and I foolishly didn't take enough pictures or make enough measurements before getting carried away and removing the entire panel (one of those times when I thought it would be a small repair, and then played 'chase the rust'...eventua...

Re: Viking roof spares and repaires help
For the gas rams, I think sgs Engineering may be your best bet - got mine from there, with the right ends on, right length and strength, quality items (aluminium ends, not plastic) helpful, knowledgeable staff and next day delivery. Not the cheapest, but not far off. http://www.sgs-engineering.com/g...

Re: Carbs
Sorry, been on holiday... I think that's the idle solenoid (not home until Tuesday so can't be 100% ) and without it it will not idle.
When I get some time I'm going to write a lot of this up (with resistances, functional tests, etc) and get it on the wiki...

Re: Air Cooled 14MPG normal?
I've got an air cooled 2.0 cu engined 4 speed manual Devon, and have just got back from a 750 mile trip to Belgium, getting there on the channel tunnel (180 miles each end in this country, often flat to the stop on motorways). Averaged 22mpg overall.

Re: T25 Missing Piece on Engine - any ideas?
Er..... Are you sure that's air cooled? Looks to be a number of pipes in the pictures, no tinware, etc?
I would change the title to reflect the engine type, from the engine number. Might get more help then.

Re: Carbs
Idle valve is the one to the front of the van, IIRC. Yes, timing can only be checked accurately with the Idle Stabiliser bypassed. The Idle enricher...er...enriches the idle mixture! Sorry... I think it's acting to put more fuel into the idle circuit when on warmup, and then cuts that off. When I ge...

Re: Carbs
The rectangular one is the idle enricher, so that's only supposed to be active early on. BUT if yours is not working it's possible that it'll be enriching the idle all the time? As for the idle valve, sounds like it's working, but you could remove it and put 12V on it to check it does actually opera...

Re: Engine won't idle
OK, so I'd check that the idle solenoid is working (it's on the left on the picture you posted last), and if so, that the idle inlet (the pipe which is shown at the top middle of the last photo you posted, heads down into the top of the carb) sucks air in when it is running? I take it you've already...

Re: Engine won't idle
Yeah, that's the kiddie - the two holes have been epoxied up! IT says Idle enrichment, so it'll be adding fuel into the idle circuit - I've just taken a look at the spare one in the garage, and that passes air through it when it's cold, so I'd guess that allows fuel through normally, and then stops ...

Re: Engine won't idle
There should be three things connected electrically on the LH carb - two solenoids as seen, but also a rectangular device (idle mixture enricher) which is screwed to the side of the carb and has a spade terminal coming out of it. Item 2 in the pic below. If it won't idle at all, then I'd say you nee...

Re: Carbs
I have pulled the l shaped hose off of left carb and doesn't seem to be sucking. Will it suck from cold or does engine need to be warm? Is it quite noticeable? If you're talking about the hose that feeds the idle circuit (it goes into the top of the left hand carb), then yes, it should be sucking a...

Re: Carbs
Yeah, have to apologise, got the connections I described wrong way round, I've just looked at mine again - left carb does indeed provide the advance signal (which should collapse at idle, otherwise it overpowers the retard signal - this is what was happening with mine, it was getting vacuum all the ...

Re: Carbs
Hi Mark It sounds like they need resetting from scratch, and any other issues sorted - as I say, mine was 'orrible when I bought it, and now it's pretty good. I wouldn't necessarily assume evaporation for the non-starting when hot - I think that it's making assumptions that often leads down blind al...

Re: Carbs
I've recently bought a 2L Air Cooled T25 (CU engine), and when I originally got it I thought the carbs would need replacing - it ran like crap - pops and bangs all over the place, no power, flat spot a mile wide, etc. Part of the problem was the ignition system - it had been much messed about with, ...
