coolant steel pipe corroded

I've got a corroded bottom water coolant steel pipe that's leaking slightly.  Can someone identify the pipe from the photos and tell me what I need and where I can get it from?  Thanks!

Re: Engine stalling

Intermittent electrical connection on ignition side? Check all connections and earths around ignition, low voltage and HT side. Fuel blockage?  Check/change filter if not done recently. Check vacuum hoses around carb for leaks/splits? Yes, there is an intermittent fault when starting.  Has been for...

Engine stalling

Engine needed to be turned 2 or 3 times as the van has been stood for a few days.  Once it started it sounded fine.  However, half a mile down the road the van stalled at traffic lights and would not start again despite several attempts.  Managed to get a push down the hill but wouldn't jump start s...

I know this topic has been over-poked but...

If it says 15W-40 mineral on the packaging, is it good?

Re: Starter issues

The obvious thoughts are - Ignition switch is often a prime suspect, Followed by ensuring that your wires and connectors to the starter are clean and securely fitted. Then there is obviously ensuring that the gearbox to body earth wire / braid is also clean and securely fitted. Thanks!  Will get th...

Starter issues

I went to start the van a couple of weeks ago and there was nothing but a "click".  I thought the battery was totally flat.  I tried it again and the engine started straight away.  This is now happening intermittently and sometimes I have 3 or 4 attempts before the ignition kicks in.  Any ...

Re: Time for new alternator?

OK, bit of a delay but...

I took the van to an auto-electrician and he tested everything and said there were no issues anywhere.  The only thing he could think of was that the extreme cold had some effect on the battery.  And there have indeed been no problems since with the battery.

Re: Time for new alternator?

The issue is that the battery doesn't charge when the engine is running and becomes totally flat after a few minutes.  Luckily discovered this whilst running the engine on my drive.  Same thing happened 3 years ago and replaced regulator.  Can't remember the brand but it was a recommended one from a...

Time for new alternator?

I replaced the voltage regulator on my alternator 3 years ago but I'm having the same issues again.  Is it time to replace the alternator or just keep replacing the voltage regulator?

Re: Engine trouble

Very little to go on, but white smoke from the exhaust would hint to me, a blown head gasket. Or at least a breach of the cooling system into the induction / exhaust system. Is it only revs related? That would be very odd to my simple fault diagnostic knowledge. Is it not more like when the engine ...

Engine trouble

My daughters van broke down at the weekend. I think it has a Golf engine in it. When it reaches a level on revs the power dips and white smoke comes out of exhaust. Any ideas with that poor level of info?
