Replacing fuel tank, what else???

I’ve just dropped the fuel tank and radiator and am about to replace the front to rear coolant pipes. What else should I check out while everything is out??

Re: Temp Gauge??? Whats going on?

I had a similar problem in my van for a while. Ended up being the temp sender or temp sensor (can't remember which one there are two that come out of the thermostat, it's one of them). Turns out a mechanic put the wrong sensor in and it has a different resistance range. You can test if the sensor is...

Brakes not great

Hey guys, I just purchased another T3! It is a 84 1.9L camper (Trakka fitout here in Australia). I also have a 91 Panel 2.1L. The brakes in the 91 are MUCH better than the 84. Did they change the break systems at all over the years? I had a good VW mechanic look at it when I purchased it and he said...

Re: Stalling after using battery

Have you got a leisure battery with a split charge relay, might be a faulty or incorrectly wired relay, in turn concentrating the alternater to the leisure battery. /quote] Yes I do, but I've had it installed for over three years now with no issues. What makes you think it is the battery which is c...

Stalling after using battery

I'm having a strange problem with my 91 2.1L manual van. I've noticed the last few times when going camping, I usually play the stereo a little bit, use some interior lights etc. The next morning when leaving the van keeps loosing power then stalling for the first 10 minutes of driving. I never drai...

Overflow Tank Full but Header Tank Empty

I'm having issues with my 2.1L 91 van's coolant system. Driving along coolant light on dash starts flashing, pull over and have a look the header tank in the engine bay is getting empty but the overflow tank behind the number plate is full to brim. I was only around the corner from home so I drove a...

Re: Door card dimensions for laser cut

I live in Australia so they are a bit harder to buy. I've also got free access to a laser cutter and possibly material.
But I guess I'll have to do it the old fashioned way!

Door card dimensions for laser cut

I am looking at making some new door cards and was thinking about getting them laser cut for a nice finish. Does anyone have the dimensions of the door card? I assume the pre cut ones you can buy are laser cut or stamped out so I'm sure they would exist somewhere.

Re: Temp gauge problems

According to this Brickwerks page = https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... emp-2.html the Blue one is for the engine management, not the gauge, but the pic makes it look a bit different to the one in your pic. There's this one here that ...

Re: Temp gauge problems

Where did you buy it from? Local vw mechanic (not the same one from the previous post!) Did they make a few different sensors with different heads on them? I bought one off just kampers and it was the wrong fitting but looked like the same part. They had three different types on the website. This i...

Temp gauge problems

Hi guys, My temp gauge sits really low and only rises a small amount (see photo). Here's what I've tried: Shorted temp sensor on thermostat and gauge maxes out like it should. Replaced temp sensor. Temp sensor plug reads 10v across two terminals Tested different resistances as per this post on the s...
