Oof, didn't get much love for that one did I!
I was already nervous I was biting off more than I could chew and that kind of confirms it. Scrappy it is then, that's a shame.

PD130 Swap????
How do TDI questions this time. I’ve done a bit of trawling so I'm starting to build a picture but hoping someone can provide some guidance. Our PD130 (AWX) Passat got written off yesterday due to a shunt up the backside. The car was recently donated to us so I’m doing the thought experiment to see ...

Re: Factory body kit + seam rash
Sorry, crossed wires there. Ignore the last comment. I see the full width one that you’re talking about now. You can see on the picture that it still has the two vertical seams so it’s not that one. It would be a bit criminal to use that on an Atlantic as well I’d say. So we’re looking more likely i...

Re: Factory body kit + seam rash
Ok, but these panels are complimentary rather than replacing each other. You would potentially need both depending how rotten it is and you would still end up with the seam line as original as they all spot weld to the inner sill at that point. The question is whether a panel exists that deletes tha...

Re: Factory body kit + seam rash
Sorry, can you share a link? I can only find the schofield’s panel on brickwerks:

Re: Factory body kit + seam rash
Certainly possible but I’m minded to give the benefit of the doubt if a plausible repair exists without having that seam. It would be a good way to go if the panels were available, just not seeing evidence of that atm. I’m leaning towards a pop top but currently have a high top so well versed in the...

Re: Factory body kit + seam rash
So we ended up taking the panel off as we couldn’t find the seam line. Turns out there wasn’t one! I’m assuming this is the result of a replacement but I can’t see an appropriate panel on schofield’s website, can someone hazard a guess about where then panel came from? I really can’t think how you w...

Re: Factory body kit + seam rash
Ok, so I should be able to get a look at em without removing? That would be much better for sure.

Re: Factory body kit + seam rash
Ok, thanks. Struggling to visualise that but I get the general idea, if it’s just a spanners sort of a job then that’s a bit easier to approach. Sounds like it might be fiddley though? Would a ratchet spanner be helpful?

Factory body kit + seam rash
Afternoon I’m looking at an Atlantic this week that’s got some visible seam rash, nothing that’s going to scare me away but I’d really like to see all of the seams if possible especially the sills. I’ve never had a t3 with a body kit before so don’t know how they are attached but google seems to sug...

Re: Clutch slips when hot
Hi All Just thought I'd wrap this one up. Dropped the box and found the whole bellhousing spattered with a liberal coating of transmition fluid: https://i.imgur.com/sAsK4eK.jpg I couldn't be bothered to remove the flywheel but had my finger in there and there was a needle bearing that seemed to be i...

Re: Clutch slips when hot
Clutch was a sachs for a JX from ECP. Probably worth mentioning that the engine is an ABL but had a JX pump and turbo so is a JX in all but name. Interesting to hear about the black diamond clutches, at some point I'd like to swap to an AAZ/GTD pump and up the boost so was probably going to fit one....

Re: Clutch slips when hot
Ah right, that explains that then. Back to the clutch cleaner idea then.
Any suggestions for things to look out for if/when I get the clutch apart would be helpful also

Clutch slips when hot
Hi All Tried the usual googling but can't find the answer to this one so hoping someone can help. Some background: Clutch slips slightly when hot (usually when the turbo kicks in in 3rd-5th). It's had a new kit approx 600 miles ago when I had a second hand box put in, problem first appeared after a ...
