Thought core plugs were allied to the water system Mr M,I'll have a look at mine in the morning, no doubt someone will give you a positive answer by then.

Cheers bigherb,that was what I was thinking as the pipe was routed down below the carb then rose up to the vacuum unit. I'll reroute over the top as it were,it must have been doing this for years.

Petrol in the vacuum unit
Just removed the distributor to replace the ball sensor and there is petrol in the vacuum unit,it's running on a Webber carb and the vacuum pick up is on the carb,this isn't right or is it?
