Re: Advice needed - new engine
I'd second the advice to get a rebuilt JX from AW Engineering, it's not a bad engine at all if the rest of the peripherals are in good order (pump, injectors, etc).

Re: How do your gearshift a feel after linkage rebuild?
I changed all the wearing parts on my gearchange two years ago but still found the shift rather stiff until I oiled the bushes which the rod passes through. It's surprising how much difference it makes in reducing friction. Now I put a drop of light cycle oil on the rod in those two places every cou...

Re: Rear tailgate seal channel....
Hi, 4 holes, both lower corners and up either side....judging from MM comments it needs to be chopped out and rebuilt...way out of my capabilities. Need to source a local chap to do this down here in Cornwall.... Volks Weld over in Pool have a pretty decent reputation from what I hear, seem to be f...

Re: Gearbox polybush mount have you done it.
I did mine about six months ago and it's a great upgrade. All the engine and box mounts were original, and after more than 400,000km I thought the van could do with an upgrade so changed the motor mounts for original type rubber mounts and a polybush for the box sent over by Monsieur Baxter. Startin...

That looks a reasonable price. Anyone had any experience of the seller?

Re: JX Engine dead
Hi Craig Cheers Mate. Seems my best option is to forget the 1.6TD as they are rare as rocking horse manure and spares are becoming a nightmare. Best option would appear to be to drop a 1.9D in (eg from a Golf Mk3). Any thoughts on this please? Seems it is quite doable with a few mods which, hopeful...

Re: JX Engine dead

Re: Mystery Gear linkage bush/rubber
I only use SK in a push, despite them being in the same country as me. Oftentimes it's cheaper to order from the UK or Germany, even with the additional delivery costs, but it's true they do carry a few items you'll struggle to find elsewhere.

If your French is better than your German SK also have the bush in stock . . . genuine VW part as well  http://www.serial-kombi.com/en-GB/transporter-t25/t3-5/1979-7/1992-gearshift-levers-and-selectors-bush-gear-selector-shaft-5/1979-7/1982-n37954" onclick="window.open(this.href);ret...

Re: High top lining
Yes to insulation, unless your roof is double skinned. Probably the most simple method is to glue closed cell foam directly to the roof with high temp glue from Megavanmats. This is how the German aftermarket converters like Reimo deal with insulating. Afterwards you can do as Winchweight suggested ...

Re: Biggest roof Hitop
If you're looking at new roofs I think the SCA 400 is probably the biggest you can buy nowadays: http://www.sca-daecher.de/index.php?id=268%27%22&L=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Reimo used to do a huge roof, I've seen a few of them and you might find one secondhand. ...
