Re: Replacememt valve on cold water tap

Hi sorted........ The microswitch is a normally open switch (powered circuit), two terminal. It necessitated the plunger within the valve to hold down the lever of the microswitch while the tap is closed. An adjustment (with the help of a multimeter ) of the valve body adjuster which permantly tilts...

Replacememt valve on cold water tap

Hi, I have just replaced the valve and microswitch for the single water tap in my camper. The initial problem was on opening the tap the water pump would not operate. Now when connecting the two electrical cables the pump will not turn off when turning off the tap. Is it a case of adjusting the micr...

Re: Oil Level Checking....1.6 Turbo Diesel

And there's me thinking people on this forum were helpful. I did not want to insult people's intelligence, and explain the obvious, only remember I think, you do not check oil level ( via the dipstick) cold, but allow about 15 minutes after turning off a warm engine. Just for interest what the gener...

Oil Level Checking....1.6 Turbo Diesel

Hi, I have in the past read about the method of checking oil level. Manual suggests " wait a few minutes after turning off engine". Just feel this is a tad vague. For the life of me I've checked Wiki and many of the posts in technical, but can't find the post where this has been discussed....

Help..MY90, 1.6TD,Head Gasket..Garage in Norfolk/ Anywhere

Hi, From desperate in Norfolk. Does anyone know of a garage in Norfolk or elsewhere if needs be who is experienced in turbo diesel head gasket and cooling issues for my MY 90, 1.6 TD. Will have it trailered if necessary. Now getting desperate as I have been badly let down by a garage in King's Lynn....

Cylinder Head Replacement, 1.6TD, MY90

Hi, Just had cooling problems and believe I require a head gasket replacement. I have read the Wiki and it occurred to me that a passing comment a couple of years back by a garage was possibly incorrect. Wiki mentions the "three notch" gaskets depending on clearances. This triggered my mem...

Westy Hightop - internal corner section

Hi, The garage which has my van has damaged the fibreglass hightop roof. Internally; the grey fibre board panels seem to be ok, but the grey internal plastic corner piece seems to be damaged / buckled. Does anyone have any of these (looking from front to rear it is the right hand corner piece which ...

Swing Out Bike Rack?

Hi, Have seen swing out rear brackets for accessories. I 'm considering if a "swing out" exists for bikes and will be suitable for my Atlantic. If they are around which are the best, how are they installed and are there any negatives to using them. I use a rear door stay which locks and ho...

Re: Observation.......damp

Hi,
Would both be quite thick and make the rear cushion higher than the seat when set as a bed.

Observation.......damp

Hi, Went to the van this morning which for this area was the coldest morning so far with the heaviest dew on the grass. Needed to disconnect the battery trickle charger. The large rear cushion over the engine compartment is protected from the engine cover and floor by a piece of full length , full w...

Cylinder Head and Turbo work..1.6TD, what else?

Hi,
The van is booked in for engine investigation and preventative work.
Just wondering if it was prudent to replace crankshaft (pulley end ) oil seal and housing gasket.
Is it possible for this to be completed with the engine in place?
Regards

Re: Occasional sticking throttle

Hi,
I seem to get this when changing gear; I first thought I was accidentally keepin my foot on the throttle, but found the revs increased as I dipped the clutch to change gear, with the revs dropping as I moved into a different gear.

Re: Fiamma T45 Awning Repair

Thanks Cassandra,
I"ll have a look this winter; the twist is only slight, but may be the reason why the awaning has a significant rattle now.

Fiamma T45 Awning Repair

Hi, This summer our Fiamma (T45) awning took some stick particularly while in Italy; when away from the van a horrendous storm filled the extended awning and twisted an already not particularly straight backplate. I am considering taking down and taking apart the awning with the idea of trying to st...

Re: T25 Westfalia 1.6. Diesel

Just returned from a round trip(4060 kms) to Italy and back via the Alps- St Bernards Pass (2450mt above sea level) on the way there and the return via the Great Alps Pass, including a 20 bend hairpin to boot. With patience the 1.6TD took both routes in its stride with a good quantity of oil. Yes......
