Re: Carburettor jet size
Just an update. Finally had time to strip the carbs and they were fitted with 145 / 60 jets. From what bigherb said it’s no wonder it was running a “little rich” . So I’ve got 135 / 50 and a lean option of 130 / 45 on there way. top tip Don’t trust websites that say jetted for a standard……. Engin...

Carburettor jet size
Hi.
My CU engine has twin Brosol 40 carbs. One runs really well the other is very rich. Does anyone know what the stock jet sizes should be so I can check? Thanks in advance

Re: Bigger bore kit. Are these worth it?
It was the higher compression that I was thinking about when I came across these. 2mm on the bore Sounds so little on a big engine. In my innocent world I assumed they kept the cylinder wall the same and just made them bigger. Not just bore out Standard ones.

Bigger bore kit. Are these worth it?
Hi, Has anyone fitted these? https://www.coolairvw.co.uk/product/029198075b/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Are they worth it? Do they give noticeably more power? It looks like they have flatter Pistols, do they give higher compression? The lack of summer holidays means we ...

Air cooled exhaust
Hi. My exhaust has had it. Before I just get a stock replacement can I tap the hive mind? I would like to go stainless and like the look of the “quiet pack” on JK and cool air. However There seams to be differences of opinion on how they fit... trim valance, no tow bar, different studs. TBH I don’t ...

Re: Legal LED
Thank you for the wise words. I will go back to plan A. A nice new set of headlights so the reflectors actually reflect and some high output bulbs. Let’s be honest life expectancy isn’t a big concern. My night running is minimal. I just want to be able to see when we’re running late and can’t find t...

Re: Boosting early heater
Thanks for advice. The cable control to the air valves is definitely in need of adjustment so I’ll look at that. Thought about replacing the long hot air run with something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/STERR-Insulated-Aluminum-Flexible-IAL100_5/dp/B07FJV6QS3/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=1BZ40O64DFF&qu...

Boosting early heater
Hi. We have a air cooled camper with the very simple heater. The heat exchangers generate plenty of heat but the air flow is not great. I am thinking of adding a booster fan in the hot air duct . Has anyone done this? Would it be worth it? If I did what diameter is the under van duct? Thanks in adva...

Cylinder head studs
Hi.
I’m am replacing a cylinder head on my CU engine. Do I need to replace the head studs. I know on some engines they “stretch” so can’t be reused.

Re: Budget CU rebuild
Can I just say . I want your workshop and toolkit!!! I know I can’t weld or paint but know I could do so much more.
I have asked the garage who did my body work and mots to do work because it was cheaper to pay him than rent a garage and the specialist tools.
