Re: Bodywork Recommendation Leicestershire

There’s a bloke at Langar Airfield (Grantham side of Melton) who does a lot of work on T25s - I’m hoping to take mine there next year for some paint when I’ve finally finished the engine work - his work on others looks sound (but I’m no expert…) his name is Roger - he works on his own largely I thin...

Toddlers...must learn to supervise better

Our 2 year old has been rather enthusiastic in his bashing of the steering wheel when he’s been playing in the van on the drive.. The horn has been going off randomly when the wheel is turned; I’ve disconnected it but need to repair before the MOT I think he’s done something to the spacing with the ...

Re: Seat hinge cover (no idea really) needed.

Hi

I have the same problem (along with lots of other elderly fragile plastic bits that have fallen off our Vanagon). There are usually most of these bits on the samba website- some sellers will post to the UK

KY engine

What’s the KY Diesel engine like to live with? I’ve the opportunity of a van which bodily seems ok (unlike the one I’ve just parted with after 6 years) but has the KY engine - but it has done a low mileage- the VW heritage site seems a bit sniffy about it generally. I’m not after blistering performa...

Polo advice

I’m taking my 17 year old to see an 89 Polo c tomorrow- he seems to have developed a liking for ropey old VWs as well - luckily though he’s an apprentice mechanic. Polo looks ok and has only done 50k - was wondering if anyone had any tips as to what to look out for with it? It appears to be unmolest...

Re: Hi Top & Hole

I'm thinking I will have to do the same to repair guttering as well - (although I'm going to cheat and someone else is doing the repairs) - just out of interest, what is the rest of the roof like now it's uncovered? Has that suffered significant rust? have you considered doing anything else now you ...

Re: Front seat recover

This may be a silly question but with recovering does this also generally include re-padding? Ours has its original basket-weave seats; the covering is still in fantastic condition but 33 years of different backsides means the springs are now very evident and beginning to poke in all the wrong place...

Re: Bumpers

There may be a set of chrome bumpers for sale via the Campershack in Grantham if that helps - spotted on Facebook page - I think they're breaking a van

Re: What Model is Sergy?

Ours is similar - colour, year and also fitted with a Sheldon roof. From the paperwork that came with mine it was converted new from a (very) poverty-spec panel van - it has its dealership number plates on it still and I have an old invoice - my understanding is that Sheldon would then fit the roof ...

Re: Welding and Paint Costs

You did say ball park...I've similar probe with mine - seam rash, strange bulge (!) and rust around fridge panel, rust around windscreen and annoying patch of rust around gutter where awning mount has caused some damage - took it to see a couple of VW specialists and both were looking at £4 - £5k......

Re: New User (with questions!)

Just checked recent Campershack bill and they charged £40 an hour

Can you make it out of London? Campershack are definitely a good bet if you can make it as far as Grantham (and I'm fairly sure they'll give you a lift to the station and a cup of tea)

Andrew's knowledge of T25s is immense!

Try the Campershack - it's Grantham so Lincolnshire, but not too far out of Leicestershire.

Re: Fibreglass tailgate - a solution?

Does anyone import rust free US tailgates? Seems to be loads of imported bits for Bays but wondered which companies do 'our' tailgates?
