Re: TV Aerial for Camping

When it comes to aerials size matters, the more elements there are the more gain the aerial has but the downside is the more directional it becomes. An amplifier can make a difference if the signal level is insufficient to drive the TV circuitry but if the signal to noise ratio has fallen to an unac...

Re: car towing frames

I recall reading that the item being towed (be it car or trailer), if it has brakes, they must work That is correct, for a car being towed on a frame the law says that if brakes are fitted to the car they MUST be used! If you look on the Armitage Trailers website under 'A Frames' you can see the so...

Re: car towing frames

There was a recent discussion of some of the issues involved in this in a thread entitled 'Towing', you will find it in this section a little further down the index page. Basically towing with a frame is easy but for most private vehicles used to tow the towed vehicle needs to be able to be braked a...

Re: towing

as far as i know is only legal for towing broken down taxed and tested vehicles. Although you do see gin palace campers towing smart cars on an A frame My understanding is also that if the wheels of the towed vehicle are on the ground then it must be taxed, insured and tested. As for the gin palace...

Re: Sun canopy help needed.

I have a F35 fitted to my tintop and it does not add to the height of the vehicle because of the shape of the roof, it comes off really easily anyway, there are only two bolts holding it to the rain gutter fixing brackets. The only drawback with this particular awning is that it needs two people to ...

Re: German number plates

I believe that in Germany a new licence plate is issued every time there is a change of owner and that is also possible to have it changed if you move to an area with a different City/Regional code although I believe the latter to no longer be mandatory. For an older vehicle then there generally wou...

Re: Honda 90 cub

I have had a carrier on the back of my syncro for taking my Yamaha RS200 (132Kg) to the Isle of Man TT races for three years now. Mine is a professionally made carrier but not a recognised make, robust and heavy, with a ramp so that you can stand at the side of the bike and drive it up under engine ...

Re: Power output solar (assignment)

The formula you have used is correct: Panel Area (metres squared) X Solar Incidence(joules/metre squared) X 20/100 = Output in Joules Therefore 3X1000X0.2=600 And with a Watt being I joule per second the answer is indeed 600 watts But you need to watch your units, the answer to the first part is jus...

If you are hearing a pop then it could be that it is firing in the wrong order so check the distributor cap once again. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=vw+t25+distributor+wiring&biw=1920&bih=963&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwitxobTx7jMAhUkLcAKHfmjCM4QsAQIIg...

Absolutely no oil pressure Syncro MV...advice please

I had the buzzer of doom on my 1990 Syncro with 2.1 MV engine...low oil pressure. Tried the usual things first and changed the two oil pressure switches...no joy. Finally changed the oil pump the other day and got loads of oil pressure but unfortunately a leak between the oil pump housing and the cr...

Re: New Bus, preparations for a trip to Corsica this summer.

Did the grand tour last year..Elba, Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily and back via the Amalfi coast, Pompei and Vesuvius in my 1990 Syncro. Light switch failed near Pisa (could not turn headlights off) but went to a Bosch Auto Electrical garage and they got a brand new switch and fitted it that day, all for...
