Best way to use blinds?
Hi all I was camping in the van last night and it was cold out, I'm usually more of a fair weather camper, but it made me wonder about the JK blinds I have... Is it better to have the silver side out when it's hot outside, but to reverse them when it's colder so the silver reflective surface on the ...

Re: Can't disable buzzer of doom
Smiffo Ive had the van for a while, it was given to me by someone who knew I would save it rather than see it scrapped. There have been many problems, mainly caused by previous owners who were not quite as smart as they thought they were. On the whole returning to the standard vw specification has s...

Re: Can't disable buzzer of doom
Thanks Smiffo, appreciate your input.
I've found another buzzer but it's not A VW item... I think a PO has installed it to warn if lights are on and ignition off...
I've disconnected it and the buzzer is gone but I've lost the headlights... I can sort this though!

Re: Can't disable buzzer of doom
It doesn't make any sense to me either, definitely unplugged the electrical plug on top of the speedo, not the speedo drive cable. I wondered if there is another buzzer? Or another connector plug? Or maybe some sort of short circuit in the printed circuit board? But the don't all the connections to ...

Can't disable buzzer of doom
I've got good oil pressure but the buzzer comes on as soon as I rev the engine. I've earthed the wire which goes down to the switch by the pulley, and I've unplugged the plug which goes to the back of the speedo, but it still comes on. If I unplug the White multi plug behind the clock it doesn't buz...

Re: Starter bush seems loose...
yes, I have a spare on hand.
Thinking it through logically I'll see how easily the fitted one comes out, and also see if I can measure any gap.
If there is a measurable gap I'll possibly be able to shim it, as long as the bush stays central.
Thanks for the replies

Re: Starter bush seems loose...
Yes, soaked it for 24 hours.
It didn't need any knocking in, just slid in with minimal resistance

Starter bush seems loose...
So I changed my starter, and of course I changed the bush. Not easy to get the old one out, but the new one went in so easy I wondered if it was a good fit. My worry (T25 paranoia) is that the hole into which it fits has become enlarged and the end of the starter won't be supported. Should this bush...

Finally got round to replacing the hall sender. Started first turn of the key and is running fine. Thanks to all who offered advice over the period.

Re: starter problem - earth strap so hot I cant touch it
got some heavy duty jump leads and ran them to earth and starter motor from battery, still turned over slow. Then disconnected battery from van and loom from starter, and ran earth leads direct to starter (not solenoid) and it still turned slowly. So, the problem appears to be that the reconditioned...

Re: starter problem - earth strap so hot I cant touch it
thanks for that, will test starter on van with short direct cablig. Ralph, I know you used what you had, were you concerned that the factory installed battery cable is thicker than your replacement? and am I reading it right that you used the same thickness between battery and alternator? is this be...

Re: starter problem - earth strap so hot I cant touch it
thanks to all for suggestions. it is now clear to me that a previous owner has used wiring of inadaquate cross section on this van. the positive terminal never got hot, adding he jump leads stopped the overheating on the neg terminal but the starter continued to turn slowly. well, this is a simple c...
