Re: Speedo adjustment

I've done something similar in the past by re-seating the speedo needle behind the stop pin then carefully prising it back over that pin (all plastic parts are brittle). I guessimated the amount of spring tension I needed to increase. The result was just about right. My understanding of the Construc...

Thank you Mr Friday! I'll stop searching online and try some sleep. Cheers! :D

JX camshaft sprocket: should it have a Woodruff key?

I've just replaced the head gasket and was reviewing the procedure for fitting the timing belt when I came across, for the first time, a reference to a Woodruff key for the camshaft sprocket! I thought the sprocket was held solely by the tapered seating and didn't look for a key when I removed the s...

Re: T25 1982 1.6 turbo diesel - overheating issue - Help!

Coolant circulation can be checked by feeling pipes going to and from radiator under the van. Radiator can be checked by noting temperature at different points: cool spots could indicate blockage. What are the signs of overheating? Temperature gauge reading, overheat warning light? Water boiling thr...

Re: Disaster! Aaz Engine cut out

I had this problem a few times when the fuel line or filter housing became blocked with debris from the fuel tank (I suspect as a result of previous owner using chip-shop cooking oil!). I put in an in-line filter to give me early warning of a recurrence. Taking the fuel fuel tank off and cleaning it...

I've had similar problems mostly caused by missing and faulty earths!! That made the current follow unplanned circuits, creating bizarre effects. It's the combination of age and many owners attempts to fit ICE

Yep, that's how to do it. I used a bulb from Maplins. The wires are thinner but I've not had it come loose, yet!

Re: Radiator fan

My thermo switch also bypassed with a manual one which I very rarely use. The only time the temp gauge has gone past half way was after idling for half an hour on a hot day. Normally it is just below that. My thermostat is 80 C. I wouldn't worry about yours either. I suspect that fan is only needed ...

Re: aaz engine dipstick

My method : Empty sump, level ground. 4.5 litres of oil, including filter change (if my memory is correct, please check that figure). Run engine. Stop engine. Wait for oil to drain back into sump. Using stick or wire or similar that is long enough to reach bottom of sump, dip oil through aaz dip sti...

Re: Coolant pipe leaks

Having similar setup to you (DG replaced with a diesel) I've just replaced those pipes with stainless from Brickwerks. I used same bore as originals - it seems large enough and I didn't have to worry about changing other hoses nor enlarging the bulkhead cutouts (front right of engine bay). I didn't ...

Re: No front Demist/Heater

My replacement blower also makes an annoying drone so I tend to keep it off. I stay warm enough despite my van being drafty (condensation isn't a problem!) so I'd say ventilation seldom needs the blower if the van is moving.

Re: 1.6td boost pipe question

I have an AAZ with random hoses from turbo to manifold that took turns to blow apart. There's a connection to the rocker cover to vent engine gases which seems to let a fair bit of oil through and lubricates the pipes connecting the hoses together! Inconvenient. I've used blue gasket seal to increas...

Re: Windscreen Wipers - all over the place!

Maybe the arms need repositioning on the spindles or are loose. I can't see how the blades could stick to cause the problem.
