Re: Need some advice after a 13 year absence from the forum!

It's well into Sunday in Western Australia and I have been busy. I found a lambda sensor removed it and cut out the thread and welded that into my exhaust. Didn't seem to make much difference. Following a thread on here I found a workshop manual for electrical and fuel, learned the micro switch on m...

Re: Need some advice after a 13 year absence from the forum!

Thanks mate, I sorted the blue plug dilemma. I have ordered a new temp sensor just to eliminate that but it can take a while to get stuff here. I’ll look into a lambda sensor, I know of a couple of wrecked 2.1’s that may still have them.

Re: Need some advice after a 13 year absence from the forum!

Mine doesn't have an exhaust sensor, that likely to be an issue?

Re: Need some advice after a 13 year absence from the forum!

I do, replaced the dizzy, leads, plugs, cap and rotor arm. Bought the Bentley manual and set the valve clearances to two turns in. Did the lead check, firing pretty evenly on all 4. Compression test was ok, all within 10% of each other, also did a leak down test that was ok. Took the heads off and t...

Re: Syncro engine swap - DJ to AGG

Fascinating thread, such a lot of work, well done. If you change an engine for something out of another car does it need an engineers inspection or just a regular mot? Here, you need (should have) an engineers inspection. Clearly agg is an alternative vw engine but what does it stand for?

Re: Need some advice after a 13 year absence from the forum!

I’m back, while I have learned a lot about these engines it still doesn’t run right.... by this I mean I can get it to tick over, but not with the airflow meter on, I can hold it at 3000 revs to time it, but it’s lumpy and had no power when I tried to drive it. Here is what I know. The engine is a 1...

Re: Need some advice after a 13 year absence from the forum!

Guys, done! Thanks for your help. Can't believe it as as simple as the pushrods were not seated in the lifters properly! All done now, must have missed a plug or something because she's not running well. There has been an engine change at sometime so not all wiring was connected. Is there a code on ...

Re: 1.9/2.1 Cylinder head differences

Thanks for the reply, the valves were certainly not recessed into the head like the in the picture, I did spend a fair bit of time with the grinding paste ensuring no pitting in the seats so would have sparred this. So it sounds like a follower issue? But all 4? How do I go about confirming/ fixing ...

Re: Need some advice after a 13 year absence from the forum!

The existing heads are 025101375, the ones I have found are 025101375C. I've found a thread in technical about it but no definitive answer in if they work of it I've got something wrong?

Re: 1.9/2.1 Cylinder head differences

Hopefully is acceptable to revive and old post but this is exactly the issue that I'm having. I did post something in the chat forum but it's probably more appropriate in here. My existing engine is fitted with 025101375 heads, I have found a set of 025101375C's and fitted one so far, the issue is t...

Re: Need some advice after a 13 year absence from the forum!

I'm not really sure what the engine is, I was told it's a 1.9. So they are compatible? So far have done 1 head and all springs are being compressed by the rocker with the adjusters removed?

Need some advice after a 13 year absence from the forum!

I joined a long time ago when I lived in England and had a late ex German army doka with a non turbo 1.7 llr Diesel engine. Lots has changed, I now live in Australia and have found a syncro 17 years after first coming here and trying to find one. Thing is there was no compression on number 3, I came...
