Re: Campervan Ovens
I picked up a mini oven from Lidl recently. £35 and 800W. It is tiny - but big enough to do a small pizza (cut in half and spread over 2 shelves!) / pie / chicken bites etc. I have 200W Lithium and a big solar panel so run it off a 1000w inverter with no issues at all. It actually takes less out of ...

Re: Coil
Not 100% sure about coils but when I discovered my HT leads to be (very) in need of replacing (see pic!) I decided to order new leads, new dizzy cap and new rotor arm, as a bit of googling suggested change them every 30,000 or so. Opinion on coils seemed to vary between 50,000 to 100,000 to "on...

Re: Lithium Batteries in Parallel Unequal Discharge
Yes I like the Renogy stuff. After years of using a variety kit and brands I've settled on Renogy and Victron. The shunt meters are on offer at the moment and it was dead easy to fit and set up. I've also got a Renogy DC to DC charger and am about to swap the Victron solar controller to the Renogy o...

Re: Lithium Batteries in Parallel Unequal Discharge
I'm confused too as my logic is the same as yours! It is quite difficult to measure by voltage as, being litihum, they hold their voltage really well until below 50% or even lower. So, I am largely reliant on the bluetooth connection from the BMS to the Renogy app. However, since then I've installed...

Lithium Batteries in Parallel Unequal Discharge
I have 2 Renogy 100Ah lithium batteries wired in parallel to bus bars. They work exactly as I'd expect and give slightly better performance than anticipated. However, one ALWAYS discharges a bit quicker than the other even though they are wired directly together and the bus connections go to the + t...

Re: Fridge removal and recommendations for a replacement
I have a Waeco CR50 (predecessor to the CRX50) and, after a few years of faffing with various power sources, have now settled on 2x100Ah Renogy lithium, a Victron 175W solar panel, Victron MPPT solar controller, Renogy B2B charger and re-wired the lot with good quality cable, fuses etc. Of course it...

Re: off grid aircon and heater
I don't have any experience of that specific item but I do use EcoFlow 'solar generators' for work and camping and they are the underlying battery tech in these units. They are very good, well made and hit their performance specs. That said they are so good I can actually run a portable mains air co...

Re: Three pin VW connector Male
Where is this in your van out of interest? I've got a couple of them (disconnected, both female) behind the fuse box and don't know what they do. I'm about to start tidying up the wiring so will trace them eventually I guess!

Re: Leisure battery
I got a NUMAX 105Ah (yes not a 130 I know...) from Fishing Republic - which is actually a brand of go Outdoors - for £69 less another 15% off with a code. smaller than you wanted but for the price it may be worth a look. I used it in anger last weekend for 3 nights camping and with a bit of solar to...

Re: No H bar for poptop
I fitted a Westy pop top to my tintop a few years ago - wasn't too bad a job (albeit nerve wracking when i made the first cut!). however, mine has the h bar which did take me 2 attempts to get in the right position. When i was researching it I am pretty sure that I concluded the H bar was pretty imp...

Worth saying what kind you need! There are many...!
When you say 'ruined' I assume you mean more than just the canvas damaged as there are replacement canvasses available for every type I can think of

Re: Underslung water tank - drinking water?
It's personal choice really. I've just bought an underslung water tank from CAK who make a point of saying their tanks are black to inhibit algae growth. I also have an underslung tank on my Bay and I imagine that is as old as the van (1971!). I'm perfectly happy giving it a good clean out each year...

Re: Ditching gas and going all electric
Sorry only just seen your question. This is a cadac (obviously gas powered but used outside the van so no need to have a gas bottle in your cupboard or wherever): https://www.justkampers.com/6540l110-cadac-safari-chef-deluxe-2-lp-portable-gas-bbq-grill.html" onclick="window.open(this.href)...

Re: Ditching gas and going all electric
I run 200w of solar (rigid panels not semi-flex...personal choice but I found semi-flex put out less power and failed quickly) on a Westy pop top roof. With 2 x 110Ah batteries that is more than enough for my needs, my electrical consumption is: - Waceo CR50 compressor fridge (brilliant bit of kit, ...

Not heard of it myself but in terms of seat / cushion re-covering there are lots of places can do that.
