Re: Extending Sliding Door Hinge
I did this slightly diffrently. Mine is shortened by 30mm without any modification or beating to the body panel pointed by arrow B. Had to loose the spring seen behind the letter C, but almost four years later all is working fine without it.

Re: Borbet A wheels.... will they fit
There are two kinds of borbet centre caps. Flat ones will not clear the dust caps. But the other most common ones will clear the dust caps.

Re: Extending Sliding Door Hinge
I had my U bracket extended by 30mm and the runner shortened by 30mm by a professional. Mine is a late van. I don't think you can do this yourself unless you are a skilled welder.

Re: Starting a van on 12 year old deasel
Grey smoke (lots of it) indicates unburnt fuel. I guess some old fuel left in injector pipes? Glow plugs probably not working...

Re: Starting a van on 12 year old deasel
Tried to start the van today on new deasel but with no luck. Disconnected fuel lines from fuel filter, pushed old fuel out with air, bled the system with new deasel using a big syringe, put the fuel lines to a bottle with new deasel, tried to start the engine. Nothing. Then pushed it dow the hill an...

Starting a van on 12 year old deasel
Hi. I have a syncro caravelle on my yard that has not been started for almost 12 years. It has half a tank of old deasel. Does deasel fuel get unusable during the years? Or can I have a go?

Re: TDi Conversion - Details of ECU (And now Engine/box) stuff?
AFN has a vnt turbo operated by vacuum and AHU/1Z has a wastegate turbo operated by pressure so these two are not interchangeable to my knowledge. If you use turbodiesel JX exhaust manifold and adaptor you can leave the AFN turbo.

Re: Need a gear stick miracle
I managed to get a genuine kit (all of this in one box) for the linkage on german ebay. The listing said this kit to be used after 200k km. But you can get all of this separately at brickwerks. http://images51.fotki.com/v1561/photos/4/1146084/9095302/20130205_225833-vi.jpg Also bougth a new gearstic...

Re: Need a gear stick miracle
Worth overhauling the whole linkage if the gearstick has snapped. I have put a brand new genuine gearstick in mine because old one kept snapping just over the repaired area. I have tried both inserting a piece of metal inside it and sliding a tube over the weak spot. But it allways spapped next to t...

Re: Westy Pop Top Roof Mechanism Issues!
I did power coating on mine. Local shop in Reading two years ago. Don't remember how much I paid. Looked even worse that yours. After two years still looks like new. Well worth it. Re: 18" wheels , what size tyres ?
Yes I do. The wheels are 8.5j all round with et18 so sticking out of the wheel arch at the front. Hence narrower tyres.

My van is not lowered and I went for 235/50 for rear and 215/55 with a bit of stretch on the front.

Re: What size speakers?
Original ones in the door cards are 100mm. The previous owner has enlarged the holes and put 130mm speakers. So now the window winder hits the grille. And also it is rubbing the dashboard when door closed.
