Sorted yay!!!
So I re-checked all the connections and they seemed fine, so thought I'd swap out the sender- once removed and on the bench I found a fracture in the stud that took pliers to bend open. Fitted a new sender, all good.
Thanks so much for your time and help,
Blakie

Re: Starter motor- Random starting wows
Thanks everybody.
Thanks for the suggestion of the one way clutch, but the last one was brand new and lasted a couple if miles.
Do you think the hard start relay could be keeping the starter energised?
Cheers,
Blakie

Re: Excessive oil presdure after oil change
Morning, As always I used 15W40 Fuchs mineral oil. The filter was a Mann W940/25 (stock I think) both from Brickwerks. It did have a Mann W830/1 prior to the oil change, a short filter for an external oil cooler sanwich plate (not currently connected). Do you think the different filter would have su...

Re: Excessive oil presdure after oil change
Hi Aidan,
Yeah, I know gauges are a little wayward, bit this is unusual, the needle is right off thr gauge to the right over 3000 rpm, under that and itd higher than normal, but not far off. Electrical onnections are good
Not calibrated, just trending the the gauge.
Many thanks,
Blakie

Excessive oil presdure after oil change
Morning all, So I changed the oil and oil filter ready for our Ireland road trip and now the oil pressue gauge red lines at 3000 rpm, its normal at idle (1bar) and about 3bar up to 55mph/3000rpm then just goes all the way over. Its a rebuild 1.6TD that was fitted on January so is clean. Any ideas wh...

Re: Starter motor- Random starting wows
Hi Aiden, Thanks ever so much for your reply. So It's very much sounding like the engine and gearbox needs splitting & checking over- so nice clean flat surfaces and dowels present and correct. Is there anything I need to look for when we check the flywheel? We're off to Ireland on Friday, Is th...

Re: Starter motor- Random starting wows
Hi Mocki, Thanks for your advice. Yep flywheel was swaped, but I did have starter moter woes before, but they did last at least 1 1/2 years and not 1 1/2 miles! But, yeah my thinking is along the lines if yours, just sounds like something might be squffy as I think I've tried everything electrical! ...

Re: Starter motor- Random starting wows
Hi, Thanks for the reply's. Mocki- the flywheel was checked for damage, missing teeth etc when the engine was out and nothing was found. Do you think this could be misaligned or fitted incorrectly? RodgerT- no other electrical issues at all. When the starter just spins I turn the ignition off and t...

Starter motor- Random starting wows
Morning all, So I'm having an ongoing battle with the starter motor on my 1.6TD and would really appreciate any advice. I had a rebuilt 1.6TD fitted in January this year (starter was a pain before this). I've got through 3 starters since then x2 Lucas (eurocarparts) & x1 Hella (Brickwerks), I've...

Re: HELP! Broken Gas Tank Fitting
Hey Forden341, Thanks ever so much. After many suppliers sucking through their teeth and saying all parts were obsolete and the underslung LPG tank was scrap due to a broken fitting- Liam and Mick (lpg auto supplies) quickly came up with a solution and even gave me details of a local garage (Oxford ...

HELP! Broken Gas Tank Fitting
Morning all, Could someone please suggest where to get new gas tanks fittings from for a '88 Westi Club joker. The broken fitting is the one between the main valve and the regulator. Of course we're booked on a ferry to Ireland next weekend so any help would be amazing! Thanks ever so much, Blake ht...

So I've finally managed to get up to the mechanic to have a look for myself (the bus is my daily). but it was wedged in against a fence and a car he was working on so couldn't So the belt is overhanging the oil pump pulley, not the bottom sp...

Re: Jx injection pump alignment
Hi All, Thanks for all the advice. My belt is about 2mm off the bottom sprocket. I had the injection pump re-built in Jan as it was leaking, the pump started leaking again in a different place in Aug! and I then found the the belt shredded and cover melted. I've never had a problem with the belt bef...
