Re: what's the craziest alternative engine you've seen?

I got told I was an idiot for putting a type 1 2100 stroker into my T25 because it wouldn't last 5 minutes. Turns out, it's lasted so far just fine and it's a hoot. :D

Looking for something different to put in there now...

Re: Type one engine instead of CT?

Inspected the brakes today as the nearside front was whistling constantly. Calliper is sticking, one badly worn pad and one "as new" pad on there, so replaced that, fitted a bigger, stronger hose clip to the oil line that popped off, took the seat covers off and washed them, and also fitte...

No pics, but it's a simple one. here's the thread: http://forum.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=90572&p=7662277#p7662277" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Number 31 on here keeps falling off: http://www.vwheritage.com/_inc/img/mapDiags/t25-gearshift.jpg the plastic...

Re: Type one engine instead of CT?

Nah no damage, as soon as the oil light flicked on I chucked it out of gear and coasted to a safe place. There was still oil in the sump when I pulled over (I know this because of the oil under the van ), it has a deep sump and with the oil cooler and filter takes about 6 litres to fill. Missus...

Re: Type one engine instead of CT?

 Nah it was the big one on the ring road by Burger King. That is the last time I sing the van's praises. Ever. On the trip from the Mother in law's to home the bloody oil pipe blew off the oil pump and emptied the sump all over the road. Turns out the earth for the fan had worked it's way loose...

Re: Type one engine instead of CT?

The open area has a heat shield you can't see over the exhaust, with a curve to direct heat under the van rather than it going up through the pulley. It seems to work well, I wired up a warning light to the fan so I know when it comes on and went on a haul to York and back (240 mile round trip), the...

Re: t25 over heating.

was the system bled of air after all this loss of coolant and replacing coolant? Dingdingding, we have a winner. My bet would be an airlock that has cause coolant to boil and split the hose the second time around. Possibly have some crap in the cooling system too causing a blockage. Perhaps trying ...

Re: I'm scared it's the gearbox

Our Moggy Minor used to do this, a "tick" in first and revrse, push the clutch down, the noise would appear to vanish, until you listend really hard, then you realised that the noise had just been replaced with a soft metallic "slush" noise. The tick has gotten worse and is now a...

Re: Please heklp me with my gearshift woes!

Well, I used a screwdriver heated to cherry red to melt and "build up" the wall, will see how it holds this time. I tried contact adhesive but it just doesn't bond to the plastic. If my current, er, "bodge" fails, I shall try making something.

Re: Please heklp me with my gearshift woes!

No, it's the plastic seat that the ring you linked me to sits in, that is badly worn and the ring just slips off all the time. Thanks though dude.

Re: Please heklp me with my gearshift woes!

Further investigation revealed that the guide rod onto which "31" attaches has a plastic bush on the end to seat the ring. This bush is badly worn. Where do I find a replacement?

PS

The van is (or was!) an air cooled 1600CT model. Different engine now but same cogbox.

Please heklp me with my gearshift woes!

Right, I have an issue with my gears. I can get third and 4th, 1st is where reverse should be and second is below where reverse should be. Can't get reverse at all. the gears feel sloppy as hell. So, after some investigation, found that number 31 on this diagram had come off: http://www.vwheritage.c...

Re: Type one engine instead of CT?

Indeed. Look after it, it'll look after me. This engine has pushed a mud plugger through off road courses for a fair while, has been stripped since and slightly longer con rods put in while it was open to up the CR a little. Heads, internals, everything is in perfect condition. I'm confident about r...
