Re: Jx Exhaust differences

Cheers, I see. thought the news one looks a bit cleaner. not sure why they would add a replaceable tail pipe to a stainless exhaust.

Re: Cylinder head advice wanted

You do get condensation dripping out of exhausts until the engine is hot, you see it all the time driving behind other cars. Coolant has a smell to it, I would have a smell of the soot if it has that weird sweet coolant smell then you may be on to something. How much coolant are you loosing? I would...

Jx Exhaust differences

I am looking to replace my exhaust there are a couple of cheap stainless exhausts on Just Kampers one for 89 onwards and one earlier, does anyone know if they are interchangeable? I realise there are some better made alternatives for more money but there is so little to the jx exhaust I can't see th...

Re: Help with removal of nearside brake hub

They are on really tight, standing on the end of a long 3/4" drive breaker bar should do it.

Also try wd40 and heating it up with a blow torch.

I remember repeatedly sheering my 1/2" bar until I bit the bullet and bought a new 3/4 bar and socket.

Re: All Terrain Tyres

Aidan, I was just reading about the gear ratios in the 3H, do you think that it is a less suitable for bigger tyres?

Re: All Terrain Tyres

are you 4 or 5 speed ? Which code gearbox ? If 5 speed then you'll be spending more time in 4th in the happy rev range but will enjoy cruising in 5th a little easier where you can use it Normal 4 speed TD box is same gearing as a Syncro TD, which could come with 205R14C as standard, great in 4th bu...

Re: All Terrain Tyres

Had the Cooper, and they were totally rubbish. What did you find bad about the Coopers, I am after some AT tyres for my 2wd. I had this on my shortlist because they come in 205 70 r15. On paper they look good for me because they have rain grooves running around them, so presumably a bit more road f...

Re: 2wd suspension upgrade

Incase anyone is interested or doing the same, I went with the Schwenk springs. I bought them straight from Schwenk they cost me £450 which was around £390 plus £60 customs and they arrived within the week, which I thought was pretty good. It was no wonder the ride was bad before, both of the AVO re...

Re: new to the club

I bought a tin top roof chop and used it to replace my rotten Westfalia hightop gutters, The Westfalia roof is pretty modified from the standard tip top roof, but the bit that was rusted was a good match for the steel on the tin top, so worked out really well, there were other crossbeams with rust t...

Re: 2wd suspension upgrade

My van is 30cm to body work below the front bumper with 16s with a 60 radius tyre, most of the time its fine, great round corners etc. Things only get problematic when it's fully loaded with camping gear or the roads rough, which unfortunately is most of its yearly miles.

Re: 2wd suspension upgrade

Thanks Aidan, makes sense about the supply, I have put myself on the notify list for Schwenk springs. Do shocks make a huge difference? Does anyone know how much the Bilsteins differ, B4, B6 and the HD ones from gowesty? I think I will get all the bushes done, put on some new shocks and put it back ...

Re: 2wd suspension upgrade

Thanks for the offer for the springs, I still have the original set that came with my van in the garage, always thought they were too soft, but that could have been the shocks. I might be overthinking it because my current setup is rubbish, if you believe the hype, you hear people saying that the go...

Re: 2wd suspension upgrade

Brickwerks have done a 2WD lift kit in the past: https://brickwerks.co.uk/product/suspension-lift-kit-t3-2wd/ It says out of stock on their website, but it would be worth dropping them a line to find out what the actual situation is, as they could probably advise on something suitable for your van ...
