Liquefied Petroleum Gas LPG
Was thinking about adding a under slung LPG unit beneath my 89 California, to run a heater, power a fridge and run the stove off, even if possible a tankless hot water heater - latter may just be a pipe dream Certain advantages - frees up internal space by removing existing gas cannister - could ins...

Re: Missing expansion tank?
I have an 89 T3 1.6TD which keeps stripping auxiliary belts. So just so that i've grasped the right set up The Aux belt runs around the alternator to the back pulley of the water pump, whilst the water pump belt runs around the crankshaft and the front pulley of the water pump - as per the diagram...

Any Suggestions please In Sept 2017 my alt belt went on my 1.6td vw camper First time probably it was replaced in say 10years Since then it has snapped fours times Today, the forth time, I’m sitting on a verge waiting for breakdown having driven just 4miles - since it last went, ten months ago. The ...

Re: Subaru 2.2 16valve vs Audi 1.9TDi engine
Hi I have the exact same problem - '89 LHD westfalia conversion with 1.6 TDi and omg does it struggle up hills!! I often have a clear road in front of me but one hell of a tail back behind  I will be curious with what conclusions you reached, I did look at a Subaru conversion a few years back...

Re: Santiago de Compostela - October
Thinking about possible alternatives if the weather doesn't play ball, is to head down the Atlantic coast to Lisbon after visiting Santiago de Compostela - approx 360miles. Anyone done this and have any good tips to places to visit/stay breaking the journey

Re: Santiago de Compostela - October
Booked the ferry to Santander, rtn via Bilbao
Spending a few days in the Pico de Europa - maybe a bit of hiking and then move along the coast to Santiago.
Perhaps some wild camping and some campsites.
Hopefully the weather will be kind but if lots of rain, We'll point the van southwards!

Is this typical or have i been unlucky in my choices? Planning to drive back up French coast to Caen. Only an idea bu...

er... some parts of Europe have been doing this for years]
Exactly, we be taking a stack of examption certifcates to all major sities we visit when touring europe, because X doesn't recognise Y, probably have to completely bypass switzerland, so what is the option regarding filters

Re: Low Emissions Zone (LEZ)
been wondering what to do, other than never take van into London, but are other cities going to copy and is Europe going to follow?
Other than fit a petrol engine what are the options regarding these particle filters that the tfl mention?

Engine completely silent
1989 Westfalia Diesel Used the van a few times in April, after winter cover up. Short journeys down to garage for MOT and to shops etc. Has started after 2nd or 3d turn of key, even after long winter break. Yesterday, started to drive a mile or so the builders merchant, and back. Two hours later sta...

Steering Wheel Wobble
My third technical question, just got back from driving across France, plenty of time to reflect.
On moving at slow speeds ie 5 - 15km/h the stering wheel wobbles, on faster speeds the wobble becomes less pronounced and on fast roads 100km/h apparently dissappears. Any ideas what it could be

Noisy Starter Motor
I have a 1989 disel 1.6td and it starts fine but after the orange light goes out and you turn the key and maybe flick the accelerator the engine fires up but there is a awgul horrible grating whirring noise from what i can only assume in the starter motor. Is this an indication that its on its way o...

Rear Window Wiper
Read several articles on pro/cons of rear window wiper and can see where they are coming from, but the problem with mind is that it doesn't turn off. So if you flick the "switch" it will make one sweep, go back to the rest position and than after 6or so seconds make another sweep and so on...
