Can also be called PINKING, can be caused due to timing out, crap petrol etc, be worth getting it tuned up, used to have that on a capri, would run for ages then gasp and stop.

Had similar problem but with an Aircooled, we sorted the issue with help off here, but basically i replaced the plugs, leads, dizzy caps, popints etc, seal around the engine and checked all conections, the hot starting we nailed down to to small a battery on the van. Really thick gloves. had that with my 2ltr, replaced the dizzy cap, points etc, plus sorted out the battery was the right one, sorted, now kicks in fine style. Mind u the spark dance is rather amuzing or so the wife says, and shes seen me do it a few times.

It a conversion, as the other guys have said, got an Aircooled 2ltr, finally got it runnin as it should thanks to folk on here. Thirsty beast, but much better than my 1600 Bay. plenty of poke, but its a 82 so dive it as it years demand, not point rushing.

Just put one in myself, runs from the meter unit round the engine and ends up near the vent.

thanks for the heads up. for the record im using the same oil as im my 73 bay window, so should run at same temp (right or wrong on this one :?: ) . Will give the straps a good looking at and see what state they are in. oil pressure switch will pick one up at weekend, and how do i sort my profile ou...

Engine will try to turn over but not fire.will go with a bump start.all tinware is in place.
