Re: Possible crankshaft oilseal leak on 2.1 syncro
Better late than never! Three causes, none of them were the crankshaft seal! Culprit number one was the oil pressure sensor thingy which was weeping and dripping into the cross member then onto the exhaust, culprit number two was the gasket on the oil return breather block on top of the motor which ...

Re: Possible crankshaft oilseal leak on 2.1 syncro
Hi No its not throwing oil around inside the engine bay, just a steady drip which is coming out of the pulley area and following the crossmember, not sure if it's doing it whilst driving, doesn't do it so much at work where I park on the flat but when I come home up the hill and reverse back down it...

Possible crankshaft oilseal leak on 2.1 syncro
Hi all Just spent a while on the tech archive/wiki but couldn't find the exact answer, the syncro is dumping an egg cup full of oil from the pulley area when I pull up to the house, I am guessing I have a tired oil seal (can't see behind the pulley), my questions are, as a daily driven vehicle I nee...

Re: best new distributor for my Syncro?
Thanks, judging by the responses I have had today, these parts are thin on the ground. I've been advised there's no direct replacement so for the moment I'll be modifying my cap with a dremel to get it to sit flat on the dizzy body, cable tieing the bit with the wires on it and hopefully make the cl...

best new distributor for my Syncro?
Hi Been looking about for a new distributor for my 2.1 but there doesn't seem to be many options, I'm looking for the best one possible and want to buy all the related gubbins, leads, coil, etc, has anybody fitted a new one that they could recommend? My main problem apart from it being old is that t...

Anybody got a good Uk to Europe ferry price recently?
Hi Just trawling through the minefield that is ferry booking for my June 2 week break, UK to Europe and back. Anybody got any great quotes recently for the journey (ports not important). I was considering going Portsmouth to Santander and then slowly coming back and doing the short Roscoff to Plymou...

Re: 'Vanagon syndrome???? n do I Have it?
I seem to have developed Vanagon Syndrome as well over the past few days on my 1992 2.1 , motor warms up, temp gauge levels out and then the fun begins, lack of power and misfiring which requires some clutch use to pull the wagon through. Not had time (or light) to check everything out but will star...

Re: Replacing exhaust system teaser
I had to bring up a few quality points on the vwspeedshop exhaust system, might be worth just checking the kit out before you lay down your hard earned cash for it! The fitting kit wasn’t great, there were two missing bolts, one wrong sized bolt and no washers/spring washers. These are easily picked...
