Re: Spannered Tacho?
Hi 937, I had the tacho working properly on temporary connections to prove that the tacho worked and that the green wire was still intact from the engine bay. I then decided to neaten the cable runs to fit snugly under the binnacle. Some where in this process The tacho decided to stop working. Is it...

Spannered Tacho?
Hi, I've just temporarily wired up a OEM tacho to make sure a{ that it worked and b} that I still had a green wire running back to the coil. It was working beautifully and then I decided to neaten the wiring and put the binnacle back on. Big mistake on restarting the engine I've zilch, I've tried us...

Re: 2.1i WBX THROTTLE STICKING WIDE OPEN
if it's a manual then there's a good chance the accelerator cable is sticking in the conduit in particular the rear most part which is in the black flex tube from in front of the gearbox to the stop plate in front of the throttle body, and it may be corroded and hence sticking Ours went in exactly ...

Re: Audi TT 225BHP HEAD CHALLENGE
With regard to tempretures I'm only referring to water temp as I've no idea as to oil temp in the car. I believe that the oil pressure was recorded at 2500 revs but I'm not certain. The oil in the TT is a 5-30 fully synthetic oil. Today I took her for a short drive approx 5miles to the shops and the...

Re: Audi TT 225BHP HEAD CHALLENGE
Hi, unfortunately I'm going to be as much use as a chocolate fireguard in answering your questions as it will all be information relayed to me by the garage. I had been doing a 30mile journey engine temp normal for my car (75*) although the book says in should run at (90*). I got caught in the rush ...

Re: Audi TT 225BHP HEAD CHALLENGE
My apologies if this item is in the wrong place mods: Can anyone help who has a mechanical bent. I've an Audi TT that i've thrown a lot of money at. I need someone who could strip the head off and see if the cam seats are worn. As when she gets hot I lose oil pressure. I've had the crank reground n...

Re: Starting sequence?
Aiden, I had tried to fit several times different Dizzys and a coil given by Em1re, in the doing so I had set the timing up 180* out. As soon as I realised this and reset the timing she fired up lovely. I think that I had trouble with the plug from the Hall sender and once I'd sorted that out and th...

Re: Starting sequence?
Okay joke over, plenty of fuel going to cylinders, plenty of spark at the coil, plenty of spark at the head, plugs wet. Engine just turns over with no attempt to fire....Ideas most welcome please....Regards Rob

Re: Starting sequence?
: I've now changed the coil and changed the dizzy, reset the timing and she fired on the key. I revved the engine twice and she then died not to restart. I give up .......The indication is no spark at the plugs as I pulled them and they were wet I don't have enough years left to wait for them to dry...

Re: Starting sequence?
Aiden, the Idle signal amplifier had been by-passed previously. I checked a video on Ytube on how to test the two switches you mentioned and there is a corresponding click at the upper and lower throttle positions, i don't have the knowledge to check values unfortunately, but thank you for the help ...

Re: Starts then stops......
No need to change the ignition switch just yet, test it first. Put a bridging wire from the battery +ve post in the black box to the 15 terminal on the coil (black wire - that's the live feed from the ignition switch). If it runs ok now, it's the switch or wiring. If not, it's not. Sent from my ONE...
