Engine cover/lid insulation and sound deadening
Hi, I recently bought a new plastic engine lid to replace my heavy and tatty metal one, but the foam insulation and sound deadening material underneath is ingrained with oil. Does anyone know if this foam can be replaced with the genuine VW stuff as I'm hoping that this is the cause of the strong oi...

Re: Horrendous judder in reverse...HELP!!
Hi all, Just to let you know that I eventually got around to getting underneath the van to check the mounts etc. only to find to my horror that one of the bolts holding the gearbox to the bell housing was loose and another was completely out!! The gearbox was basically coming adrift. I've tightened ...

Horrendous judder in reverse...HELP!!
Hi, I've got a 1985 1.9DG which isn't at all happy about going backwards. It makes such a horrendous judder that it feels like the thing is going to fall apart!! Very slow progress....Sometimes it will feel like it wants to pull up when driving too...loses power. Is it engine mounts? My exhaust clan...

Re: PLEASE HELP...I'M OUT OF MY DEPTH!!!
Thanks for the advice people. I think I'll fill it best I can, and paint it as is. Think I've come to the realisation that she's never going to look pristine...not without thousands of pounds being spent!!

Re: Paint Your Wagon - with a roller!
Hi folks, Could anyone tell me whether you can get Rustoleum in a dark brown colour like the Westfalia Joker? To be honest, any pics of your vans painted in any shade of Rustoleum brown would be a great help, as you can't really tell what they're going to turn out like from the colour chart on your ...

PLEASE HELP...I'M OUT OF MY DEPTH!!!
Hi folks, I'm Cord, and this is my work in progress Reimo 1.9DG. I've had loads of invaluable help and advice from the forum already, but what I'm really after now is some more practical help....desperately!! As you can see, I sanded most of the van down in preparation for painting last year, but in...

Re: Swivel seat removal
Hi,
If you are selling the seats, how much are you asking? Are they in good nick? I've got some non-VW seats in at the moment and they are terrible...want to put some proper VW seats in.
Thanks a lot,
Cord.

Re: VAN WON'T START AFTER FUEL PUMP CHANGE...HELP!!
Cheers Mocki, Took it over to ajsimmo and fullsunian's place today. They're going to check out the water leak and MOT it for me. Andy did find out while I was there that the vac advance wasn't working, plus the timing was TOTALLY out. Should be something like 5 degrees after TDC....mine was 35 degre...

Re: T25 NOT STARTING!!
Cheers Mocki, I've sorted the starter motor problems...bloomin' copper bush was totally worn out. Took some gettin' out too! Problem now is that it keeps stalling on starting. Really struggles and is really 'lumpy' when I rev it. It's fine once it gets going, but then has a tendancy to cut out at ro...

Re: VAN WON'T START AFTER FUEL PUMP CHANGE...HELP!!
Checked the connection to the coil....looks OK. Checked the ignition amplifier. The unit has 7 prongs in it, but on checking my plug connector it only has 6...Is this right? Found the source of my water leak. It's coming out of the water jacket gasket on the left hand head....BRILLIANT!!!!! Does any...

Re: VAN WON'T START AFTER FUEL PUMP CHANGE...HELP!!
Hi Mocki,
The engine cut out as I braked for the ramp, saw the two red lights on the dash, then as I went over the bump the engine started again on its own. I'm going to have a look to see if I can trace the source of the water leak. I'll check these connections while I'm there.
Cheers,
Cord.

Re: VAN WON'T START AFTER FUEL PUMP CHANGE...HELP!!
Hi all, Took the van out for a run yesterday. It was fine for a good 30-40 miles, no kangarooing at all, then it just started cutting out at roundabouts/junctions, whenever I put my foot on the brake. Parked up for a couple of hours and it was still cutting out when we set off again. Strange thing h...

Re: VAN WON'T START AFTER FUEL PUMP CHANGE...HELP!!
Cheers Steve. Me and my Dad eventually managed to get the new tank on successfully today. I didn't realize my arm could bend in so many different directions!! Still wouldn't start with the new fuel pump though, so put the old one back on and after sucking some petrol through the pipe she started up ...
