Same here I glued a 100mm led strip up in the groove and did away with the crazy complicated array of multiple parts needed for the original setup.

Mine is accurate up to 50mph. When it reads 70 on the gauge, its actually more like 65.

I made a new needle by sculpting the spine of a plastic disposable knife. A little dab of epoxy to bed it in...

Mine shuts pretty nicely - its an 84, so the early style slider etc. I put new rollers and bearings on everything. The lower track was worn right through where the roller ran on the metal, so I had to cut out the whole thing including the outer sill and put a new one in. The mid-height track itself ...

T3 Parts Selector - Results Below are the results for your vin number, you can use this to work out which of the changeover parts that you have. Oh, and yes, it says you have coolant pipes but your van maybe air cooled, you might see syncro results for a 1980 van when they didn’t make syncro in 1980...

AEF is super easy. Worth thinking about your gearing as well if you want to go 70mph without revving very high.

If you live in the UK, LPG seems to be a bit of a no brainer.
Over here in Ireland however, LPG filling stations are few and far between so not really a viable option.

Have you checked the sender on the top of the coolant header tank?
It can cause the red light to flash and the needle to go to max...
