Seized Heat Blower
My heater blower has seized up. I remember reading an article somewhere on how to get to it and get it working again. I have looked through the Wiki but can't find it. Does anyone know where it might be and do you know if new blowers are available

Re: Replacing Exhaust
Thanks for the info and advice. I have now had the exhaust repaired. I found a local company- Gosport tyre and exhaust, who were very helpful, they custom made and fitted a new downpipe for me for a very reasonable price. I would definitely use these guys again.

Replacing Exhaust
Driving home today, my exhaust started making a very loud noise. The downpipe has broken and it looks like a section of it is missing. I think my engine is a 1.9 1Y. Where is the best place to get a downpipe? Or is it possible to get some kind of flexible tube to connect up the broken ends?

Re: sqeaking wheel
I don't get why bearings fail suddently....in my experience there is always plenty of warning before actual failure. Unless the bearings were incorrectly fitted or were of the recycled baked bean can variety? Martin Well, mine did rumble a bit, then squeaked, then failed. So, yes it did give some w...

Re: sqeaking wheel
My wheel bearing recently failed, and it developed a high pitched squeak which went away when I touched the brake pedal. I also had some rumbling as well. Hopefully your's is just brake pads. If you are not sure get it checked. When my bearing gave up suddenly, it pulled sharply to one side at 50 mp...

Re: Squeek goes when i press brake...
My front brake was squeaking, which also went away with a slight touch of the brake pedal. However it wasn't the brake pads, it was the wheel bearing about to fail. It sounded exactly like pads squeaking

Re: Electric Kettles
I use a 1 kw Russell Hobbs kettle, It works well and has never tripped the electrical hook up. Its easy to fill it it up before you go to bed and just switch on in the morning without getting out of bed. A bit more tricky to do that with a gas kettle. Also I use a fan heater in the van which I place...

Re: Treating Rust Underneath Van
Thanks for the suggestions. I will probably use the jet washer first, before using a grinder with a sanding disk. After using Vactan I am not sure what paint I am going to use. Too many options.

Treating Rust Underneath Van
I will soon be starting to sort out the bodywork on my camper. My first job is to treat a lot of mainly surface rust underneath on the floor pan and chassis. The rust is quite flaky in places but appears solid underneath. Some areas have been under-sealed which is starting to come off. After rubbing...

Re: Welding For MOT
Those are really good tips. I will give them a go. I am still in the info gathering stage at the moment. Hopefully I may be able to avoid some of the common mistakes when I get started practising.

Re: Welding For MOT
That's a good idea Mike. I hope to get started in about two weeks time. Now I have got the welder on loan, I will start getting the rest of what I need.

Re: Welding For MOT
Thanks Mike. I am looking forward to having a go. Actually Welding the van might be a bit scary though. I looked at your thread where you basically rebuilt your van (Amazing!). I would be scared that I would uncover work that is too difficult for me to even think about attempting.

Re: Welding For MOT
I have collected the welder from my friend. It's a clarke 135TE. It has two switches on the front marked 1,2 and min,max and the wire speed control. I now need to get some other kit together to go with it, like some basic metal working tools. What do you recommend I should get. I have some clamps an...

Re: Welding For MOT
Ok, Thanks I will do that, it may be a while before I get time to get hold of it. I don't know which make it is. It is under a lot of junk in my friends garage. I wil try to get hold of it soon.
