Pop top topper
Hi, Bought an air hiking mat similar to this one a few years ago to make the pop top mattress more comfortable: https://www.blacks.co.uk/equipment/325610-dreamcatcher-double-7-5.html/1261913/?istCompanyId=d92b362f-ac8a-4a8a-87ca-c56eafad7955&istFeedId=2f99410f-1124-43d5-8232-86c184f09479&ist...

Re: Heater wiring issue
Yeah, it does squeak quite a lot when running. Sometimes more than others but something I noticed. Will investigate that, thanks

Re: Heater wiring issue
Just to add, it's a 1.6 jx westfalia. Does have some custom wiring by previous owner but had the van for over 10 years and first time this has happened. Have wiring diagrams so hopefully will find some time this weekend to familiarise myself with the wiring for the heater. Sent from my JSN-L21 using...

Heater wiring issue
Hi, Got an issue that has arisen seemly out of the blue. Been using the van to commute to work every now and then and recently when the weather turned colder I started using the heater. Found that the switch was stuck and couldn't turn. Managed to investigate the other weekend and found the plastic ...

Re: DTI Gauge for timing JX engine
You don't need 25mm of displacement, 10mm is plenty, but you do need a longish leg to reach inside the pump to the piston. If the leg's not long enough, just tape a bit of wire to it to make it longer. I use the depth gauge on my vernier caliper. With care it's accurate enough. Thanks, good to know...

Re: DTI Gauge for timing JX engine
Was wondering as it seemed so common to find 10mm ones, just that post states it so was following that. The kit mentioned about on has 0-10mm so must be OK.tobydog wrote:Do you need a DTI with 25mm of travel?

DTI Gauge for timing JX engine
Hi, Struggling to find a basic DTI Gauge for checking the timing on my JX engine. Following the vince waldon post about timing IDI diesel engines and he states he used a 'cheapie'. I'm looked about on ebay/amazon but can't find one with 25mm travel (plenty of 10mm ones...). Anyone got any recommenda...

Re: LDA Repair (1.6 JX)
I repaired mine by carefully grinding around the crimped joint and using a piece from a car inner tube of all things. Just sat it the pressurised side of the existing membrane and bolted it back together with 6 m4 nuts and bolts. Worked a treat! Cost pence and lasted over a year until I GTi’d the o...

Re: LDA Repair (1.6 JX)
Dan, that's really helpful. It may not come to that as it might be working, I just never remember seeing it moving so assuming not. Currently in the process of replacing a couple of glow plugs but once they're in i'll double check. .

Have put it loosely by the fridge vent for now as seemed to be a good place to put it. More worried about the CO than natural gas
