Re: Snapped radius arm
After sitting on the drive looking sorry for itself I got someone to look at it and he advised that the hole was only marginally bigger than it should have been and if we replaced the arm along with new bushes etc it should be fine. So it's all back together finally and driveable again. The other si...

Re: Snapped radius arm
I going to let an experienced welder have a look at it hopefully this weekend to see what ideas they have. He reckons if the metal is sound around the hole which it is pretty much, then he can weld in a plate and cut the correct size hole into it. Question is how do I know the exact specifications o...

Re: Snapped radius arm
Yes It sheared off at the nut at the top of the arm. Managed to get the top bit undone using a heavy duty battery gun and breaker bar on the other side wedged on the floor. Unfortunately it looks like the chassis has suffered a little bit the hole is elongated and is corroded. Has anyone tried to re...

Snapped radius arm
I reversed the van off the drive this morning with full lock on when I heard a loud bang from underneath the front of the van( 1990 Bluestar) the drivers wheel was also touching the front mudflap. Closer inspection revealed what I think is a snapped radius arm. I have a couple of questions if anyone...

Draining and Flushing the Coolant know how
Hi All, i've decided to drain the coolant on my AAZ powered Bluestar due to needing a new header tank, I've seen that there is some good info on refilling the system and bleeding it etc, but just wanted some advice on how to drain the system completely and the best way to flush it out. So far I disc...

Re: Starting and Stopping issue
I replaced the stop solenoid with a new one from VW and it seemed to sort the issue, drove the van quite a few times with no issues but now it's turning over but not firing again. Is it possible that this is a faulty earth on the engine as I assume it earth's itself through the engine? Thanks for an...

Re: Starting and Stopping issue
I have removed the new solenoid and bench tested it directly off the battery and found that it appears to be dead, I then tested the old one again which did respond and work most of the time. It seems the new one is faulty and not working at all now so it's going back to VW for a swop out, hopefully...

Re: Starting and Stopping issue
OK, it's back to not starting again, tried it yesterday and it started fine, and stopped when the ignition turned off, then started and stopped ok again, then wouldn't start when I decided to give it a road test. Having replaced the ignition switch and the stop solenoid what else can I look at here?...

Re: Starting and Stopping issue
I will have to check that when it is doing not stopping, typically it's not done it the last couple of times although it has almost hinted at it by not immediately switching off but after a second or 2. I have replaced the ignition switch as I had a new one and they're fairly easy to do. It has howe...

Starting and Stopping issue
Hi all, I'm looking for a little advice relating to a recent issue whereby my AAZ powered Bluestar wouldn't start, it would turn over until the battery died but never fire, there appeared to be fuel getting through when the AA guy checked so I got the van recovered home. The next day it started firs...
